PSAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - 3
Lock Haven, Pa. - Stephen Schelander and Herman Kirkland of Shippensburg claim the PSAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for securing the top marks in the conference rankings.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Stephen Schelander – Shippensburg

Schelander posted an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 4:13.23 in the mile, which was good for a third-place finish on Saturday at the Gulden Invitational. His finish marks the fifth-fastest time in the country and also places him first in conference rankings. Schelander also ran on the victorious 4x800-meter relay squad where he posted a 1:57.5 split and finished in a time of 7:56.75. In this event, the Red Raiders earned the No. 1 ranking in the conference.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Herman Kirkland – Shippensburg
Sophomore – Long Jump
Philadelphia, Pa. / Imhotep Institute Charter
Kirkland set a new season best and remains first in the conference for his outstanding performance in the long jump at the Gulden Invitational. The sophomore leaped 24 feet, 3.75 inches, which is two inches better than his previous mark. He finished first in the meet against top Division I opponents. Kirkland currently stands at second in the Division II rankings in the long jump.
