Slippery Rock's Styles and Ediboro's Thomas Named Cross Country Champion Scholars

Slippery Rock, Pa. - Slippery Rock graduate student Kara Styles and Edinboro senior Dustin Thomas have been named the recipients of the PSAC Champion Scholar Award for the men's and women's cross country championships. 

The PSAC Champion Scholar Award, begun during the 2011-12 academic year, is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 89 award and honors the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 89 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship final sites of the 89 NCAA championships across all three divisions - I, II and III. 

Styles is a graduate student and is in the process of earning her doctorate of physical therapy. She holds a flawless 4.0 grade point average and has completed 144 undergraduate credits. The Windber, Pa. native attended Forest Hills High School. 

Thomas is a senior studying health and physical education. He holds a 3.984 grade point average and has completed 96 credits. The Broadview Heights, Ohio native attended North Royalton High School.
