Men's and Women's Cross Country Compete in NCAA Nationals

Joplin, Mo. - The PSAC men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 2012 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championhip race on Saturday.

Lock Haven's Alex Monroe was the PSAC's top finisher, crossing the line fifth overall with a time of 29:18.6 in the men's 10k race. Shippensburg's Katie Spratford crossed the finish line third overall with a time of 20:22.4 in the women's 6k run.

Edinboro finished tied for ninth as a team with a score of 325 points, as the Shippensburg women's team came-in seventh with 287 points.

CROSS COUNTRY ALL-REGION TEAMS ANNOUNCEMENT

New Orleans, La. -
PSAC men's and women's cross country squads earned a total 42 slots on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region teams for finishing within the top 25 individually this past weekend at the NCAA Atlantic Regional hosted by Lock Haven University. 

Edinboro led the men's team's of the PSAC with all seven runners notching a spot in the top 25. The PSAC accounted for the most women's particpants to make it onto the All-Region roster with 11 insitutions represented.

Lock Haven, Pa. - Men's and women's cross country teams across the PSAC competed in the 2012 NCAA Atlantic Regionals on Saturday. 

In the men's race, Edinboro, Lock Haven and East Stroudsburg all qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championship race, while the following individuals also gained entry into the race; Matt Gillette (Shippensburg), Stewart Jones (Wheeling Jesuit), and Jon Bogert (Seton Hill). Lock Haven's Alex Monroe was crowned the regional champion with a time of 30:41.1. 

In the women's race, Shippensburg, Edinboro, and IUP gained entry in the national race as a team. Additionally, Victoria Davis (Bloomsburg), Stephanie Case (Slippery Rock), and Jessica Scordino (Mansfield) qualified for nationals with their individual times. Katie Spratford of Shippensburg crossed the line first in the women's 6k to be crowned the regional champ with a time of 20:20.0.
