IUP's Matt Rutt Named PSAC Champion Scholar Award Winner for Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship

Edinboro, Pa. - IUP junior Matt Rutt was named the recipient of the PSAC Champion Scholar Award for the men's indoor track & field championship at the conference meet two weekends ago. Rutt was presented with the award on the first day of the championship at Edinboro.

The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 89 award and honor the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 89 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 89 NCAA championships across all three divisions - I, II and III. Rutt is the inaugural recipient of the award for men's indoor track & field as the Champion Scholar Awards are being initiated during the current academic year.

Rutt is majoring in education and has compiled 74 credit hours over five semesters. He has a perfect 4.0 grade point average. He is a native of Sinking Spring, Pa. and a graduate of Wilson High School.
