California Falls in National Quarterfinals of NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament
California fell to defending national champion Barry by a 5-2 score on Thursday morning in the national quarterfinals (Round of 8) of the NCAA women's tennis tournament. The Vulcans had been the last remaining PSAC team in the tournament after winning their Round of 16 on Wednesday.

California topped Cameron (Okla.) 5-2 in the first round of the NCAA championship round of the women's tennis tournament on Wednesday morning to advance to the national quarterfinals. The Vulcans will now face defending national champion Barry on Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the Round of 8. IUP, the other PSAC representative at the national championships, fell 5-0 to Abilene Christian on Thursday morning.

California and IUP advanced out of the regional tournaments to qualify for the national championships, which will be held in Louisville, Ky. as a part of the NCAA Division II Spring Championship Festival. Both teams will get underway with Round of 16 matches on Wednesday, May 16. The Round of 8 will be the following day, May 17, with the national semifinals set for May 18 and the national championship match on Saturday, May 19.

A total of one men's tennis team and three women's tennis teams from the PSAC have been selected to participate in the NCAA Division II tennis tournaments.
PSAC men's tennis champion Bloomsburg was awarded the No. 3 seed in the Atlantic Region and will travel to host Shaw to take on the No. 6 seed Shepherd in the first round. The winner of that match will play the winner of the Shaw-West Liberty match for a trip to the championship round.
In the women's tournament, PSAC champion California will host one half of the Atlantic Regional tournament as the top-seeded Vulcans will take on No. 8 seed Winston-Salem State in the first round. The winner of that match will face the winner of the first round match between No. 4 Shaw and No. 5 West Virginia State for a trip to the championship round. In the other half of the Atlantic Regional, PSAC runner-up IUP, the No. 2 seed, will host and take on No. 7 West Liberty. No. 3 Slippery Rock and No. 6 Charleston will play in the other first round match, with the winners playing for a trip to nationals.
