The California women finished their season strongly on Saturday as they moved up a spot and finished the NCAA championships in sixth place, the best-ever finish at the national championship in program history. Dianne Luke led the way individually for the Vulcans as she finished in a tie for 11th place while Maria Lopez finished tied for 13th.

Earlier in the week, the IUP men's golf team finished in a tie for 14th place after the third round but missed the cut following stroke play. Only the top eight teams in the men's standings advance onto the match play portion of the championship. Individually, Zack Kempa led the way for the Crimson Hawks as he finished in a tie for fifth place.

A total of two PSAC golf teams - one women's and one men's squad - have qualified for the NCAA Division II national championships based on their performances at the Super Regionals held earlier this week. Both the men's and women's golf national championships will be held in Louisville, Ky. next week as part of the Division II National Championships Spring Festival.

California will be the women's representative at the women's tournament, which will be held at the Persimmon Ridge Golf Course May 16-19. The Vulcans finished third in the nine-team Super Region 1 tournament to nab one of three berths to the national championship available out of the region. Cal will be making its third straight trip to the national championship.

IUP will be making its 29th all-time appearance at the national championships after a second place finish at the East/Atlantic Super Regional earlier this week. The national championship will be held at The Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky. from May 15-19. The Crimson Hawks finished second at the Super Regional just six strokes behind champion Wilmington as teammates Brad Boyle and Zack Kempa finished tied for second to lead IUP.
