BLOOMSBURG – Bloomsburg University will be represented at the 2014 NFL Combine later this month by offensive tackle
Matt Feiler (Strasburg/Lampeter-Strasburg) and defensive end
Larry Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton).
Bloomsburg is the only Division II program to have multiple athletes invited to the combine while the Huskies are two of 14 total Division II athletes to receive invitations.
Both players were key figures in the Huskies' run to the 2013 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship, reaching the NCAA Division II Playoffs while finishing the year with a 10-2 record.
Feiler was an Associated Press Little All-America selection and also earned an All-American nod from the
Don Hansen Football Gazette. He helped pave the way for the Huskies to rush for 3,762 yards as a team this season, a total which ranked fifth in Division II, and finished his Huskies career starting every game after taking over a starting role before the 2011 season. The Strasburg native moved from guard to tackle in 2012 and earned All-PSAC East first team accolades the past two years.
Webster played just two years of football after a standout basketball career for the Huskies, finishing his time on the hardwood as the school's all-time leader in blocked shots. He racked up 12.5 sacks this season, leading the nation in sack yardage at 102 and compiled 26 sacks in maroon and gold in only 24 games. Earlier this month he earned D2Football.com All-America accolades and was a national finalist for the Cliff Harris Award as the nation's top small school defensive player among other honors. Webster was a PSAC East first team selection each of his two years on the gridiron for the Huskies.
Feiler and Webster each played in last month's East-West Shrine Game, showcasing their talents for NFL scouts among some of the top draft eligible talent in the country.
Both Huskies will look to follow in the footsteps of Bloomsburg product Jahri Evans who has put together an All-Pro career in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints after his selection in the fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Evans, a Pro Bowl selection this year for the fifth time, was the first Bloomsburg player to be drafted since 1992 when Eric Jonassen was selected in the fifth round by the San Diego Chargers. In all, eight Huskies have suited up for NFL teams.
This year's NFL Combine takes place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis from Feb. 22-25 and will be broadcast on NFL Network.
