Bristol Honored with PSAC Heaslip Media Award
Lock Haven, Pa. - Jason Bristol, the Sports Director of CBS-21, has been chosen by the league’s sports information directors as the winner of the 2015 PSAC George Heaslip Award. Bristol received the award Saturday amongst peers and colleagues at the PSAC East Baseball game between Shippensburg and Millersville.
Bristol has done a consistent job in showcasing student-athletes in the news. He has a proactive approach in seeking out stories in regards to student-athletes, while also being the leading television voice for Shippensburg University, Millersville University, and several PSAC student athletes.
With a reduced work staff, Bristol has been able to find ways to continually get Shippensburg and Millersville University in the news, by creating a way for Shippensburg and Millersville to submit highlight videos. He has also sent staff and filmers to various PSAC Championship events for coverage of student-athletes.
He has also done in-depth features on student-athletes from Clarion University and Kutztown University. The use of video clips of student-athletes from around the league have also been used by Bristol on a consistent basis.
Bristol continuously supports the PSAC and its institutions through Twitter.
He also does play–by-play work with SportsFEVER.
In 2009, Bristol earned an Emmy award for Most Outstanding Sports Anchor and Most Outstanding Sports Reporter. He is believed to be the first person to win both awards in the same year.

th winner of the George Heaslip Award, which is chosen annually by the league's sports information directors. Named in honor of the late Cheyney University Sports Information Director George Heaslip, the award recognizes a media professional for his or her meritorious service while covering the conference's student-athletes, coaches and teams.
