Field Hockey Athlete of the Week:
8155 Ally Mooney

SHIP posted two more wins over nationally-ranked teams, defeating No. 5 West Chester and No. 5 Slippery Rock. SU's last four games have been against nationally-ranked teams and the Raiders have been triumphant in all four. Mooney, the reigning NFHCA D-II Defensive Player of the Week, yielded just three goals and made 12 saves in this 2-0 week. Against WCU, SU was out-shot 13-6 in shots on goal, but Mooney finished with 10 saves for her second double-digit saves performance this season and just the third time in her career that she has finished a game with 10 or more saves...she made two saves and allowed just one goal in the win over The Rock. Mooney is second in the PSAC in save percentage.
Volleyball: Central Division Athlete of the Week:
8156 Emily Hangen

Hangen set the Raiders to two more victories, resulting in Shippensburg being the only undefeated team through six PSAC matches. Individually, she averaged 10.4 assists per set (73 over two matches) and directed the team to a .217 hitting percentage. Hangen had five kills of her own, committing just one error, while also ranking among the team’s defensive leaders with 25 digs over two matches (3.57 per set). Shippensburg’s hitting effiency was strong in the weekend matches. On Friday night, Shippensburg hit .246 with just 13 errors, and SU’s three main hitters each had at least eight kills and hit .278 or better. On Saturday, Shippensburg hit .198 and had four different players with nine or more kills. Hangen’s serve was also on point – against ESU (a team that swept Clarion and took Cal to five sets), Hangen served three aces and had an 8-0 service run in the first set that helped set the tone for a Raiders sweep. Over the team’s last five matches, SU has swung .198 or better as a team, while Hangen has had at least 31 assists in all five. Individual weekend performances: 31 assists, 14 digs, 1 kill, one block assist vs. ESU (W, 3-0) 42 assists, 11 digs, 4 kills, zero errors vs. KU (W, 3-1).

Volleyball: Northwest Division Athlete of the Week:
8157 Ally Smith

Smith tallied 32 kills and 26 digs in Gannon's two PSAC victories over IUP and Clarion last week. She averaged 3.56 kills and 2.89 digs per set. Smith produced her seventh double-double with 14 kills and 17 digs in a five-set comeback against the Southwest-Division leading Crimson Hawks. Smith followed that up with a team-high 18 kills and nine digs in a 3-1 victory over the Golden Eagles.

Volleyball: Southeast Division Athlete of the Week: 
8158 Jillian Grammer
West Chester (Jr. / S)
Center Valley, Pa. / Southern Lehigh

Grammer played a critical role this weekend as West Chester defeated both Lock Haven and the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown, 3-1. On the road, Grammer provided 77 assists, 31 digs, and chipped in eight kills. Friday night, she contributed 38 assists, 13 digs, and three kills against Lock Haven. She followed that up with 39 assists, 18 digs, as well as five kills at Pitt-Johnstown.

Volleyball: Southwest Division Athlete of the Week: 
8159 Viktoria Farian

Richfield, Ohio / Revere

Farian helped the Griffins to two PSAC wins this weekend. She posted two more double doubles on the weekend to give her eight on the season. Viktoria posted 14 kills and 10 digs in the win at Edinboro and then followed that with 17 kills and 10 digs in the win at Slippery Rock. She also added 2 aces and 2 blocks.

Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week
8154 Dominic Stroh
Shippensburg (Jr.)
Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area

Stroh returned to action and finished as the individual race champion of the 2017 Carnegie Mellon Invitational, posting a time of 26:12.3 to lead the field of 208 runners. It was his third race of the season and his second 8K. SU won the team title, putting five men in the Top 10.

Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week
8153 Kaylyn West
East Stroudsburg (Sr.)
Mount Joy, Pa. / Elizabethtown

West placed 2nd out of 225 runners at Saturday's DeSales Invitational to lead the ESU women to a second-place finish in a field of 22 teams. The senior completed the 6k course in 22:36.40. West has been ESU's top scorer in all four meets so far this season, and has placed in the top five individually in three of those races (4th out of 126 at Division I Fordham, 1st out of 106 at Salisbury). West was a first team All-PSAC performer as a junior last season, second team All-PSAC performer in 2015.
 
Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week: 
8144 Cole Kropnick
Shippensburg (Jr. / Forward)
Blue Bell, Pa./ Wissahickon

Kropnick had two game-winning goals in a 2-0 week for the Raiders. He scored a golden goal 1:37 into double overtime Wednesday night at Bloomsburg in a 1-0 win, and scored the first goal just 53 seconds into a 2-0 win over UPJ. Kropnick is tied for the PSAC lead in goals (10) and game-winning goals (3). 

Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week: 
8151 Nikki Zaso
West Chester (Jr. / Forward)
Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill East

Zaso posted three goals this week, including the game winner to defeat host California (Pa.) by a final score of 2-1 on Saturday. On Wednesday, Zaso tallied a pair of goals to down visiting Millersville, 3-1. Zaso now leads the squad in goals as her contributions helped in back-to-back conference victories this week.

8145 Jarel Elder
West Chester (Sr. / RB)
Allentown, Pa. / Parkland

Elder rushed for 149 yards and a pair of touchdowns in West Chester's 37-27 victory on the road over Shippensburg. Elder's final TD run, a 63-yard scamper with four minutes left in the contest, put the game out of reach and secured the win. He averaged 4.8 yards per rush. He also caught two passes for four yards and returned a kickoff four yards to finish with 157 all-purpose yards in the game.

8148 Kyle Knight

Myerstown, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon
True-freshman QB Knight made his second career start a memorable one has he rushed for 181 yards and four TDs in LHU’s first win of the 2017 season. Knight carried the ball 20 times and scored on runs of 1-yard, 33-yards, 5-yards and 3-yards. Three of his four touchdowns came in the first quarter as he powered a ground attack that racked up 460 total yards in a 62-0 victory over Cheyney.

Turber-Ortiz had two interceptions, including his biggest of the year late in the game to seal Kutztown's 23-7 win at Bloomsburg. With Bloomsburg driving deep in Kutztown territory in a 3-point game, Turber-Ortiz picked off the Bloomsburg quarterback near the goal-line and returned it 50 yards to setup an ensuing KU touchdown to seal the win. It was his second interception of the game and his team-leading fifth interception in the last four games.

Saylorsburg, Pa. / Pleasant Valley
Krcic was able to help Kutztown control field possession in its 23-7 win at Bloomsburg, averaging 45.6 yards on five punts, including two 50-yarders and one inside the 5-yardline.
 
Football: Western Division Offensive Athlete of the Week

Jones recorded 261 rushing yards, a school-record six rushing touchdowns, two receptions, 22 receiving yards and 283 all-purpose yards during a 47-25 victory against Edinboro … recorded the third-highest single-game rushing total in school history … he owns the top mark of 354 set against Slippery Rock two weeks ago … had another 40 receiving yards removed due to a holding penalty … has rushed for at least 150 yards in all six games this season … was consistent throughout the game that was played in front of a standing-room-only crowd during Homecoming Weekend … opened the game with 70 yards and two touchdowns during the first quarter … finished the first half with 90 yards and three touchdowns … added 171 yards and three touchdowns during the second half … after 92 yards and one touchdown during the third quarter, finished the game with 79 yards and two touchdowns during the final quarter.

8147 Sam Fareri

South Park, Pa. / South Park
Fareri finished with just five tackles against Seton Hill, but came up with two clutch turnover-inducing plays in leading the Golden Eagles to their first victory of the year against Seton Hill. His first takeaway came in the second quarter as the Griffins set up in Clarion territory; he picked off Christian Strong on what would be Seton Hill's final drive of the half and raced 45 yards down the sideline to give the Golden Eagles a shot at a field goal to end the period. In the fourth quarter, he ended Seton Hill's last shot at the go-ahead score by punching the ball out of the hands of Michael Elardo, with Colton McKay recovering the loose ball to seal the win.

Pittsburgh, Pa. / Plum

Chapla was perfect on the day in scoring seven points in a 31-28 win on the road at West Chester ... he booted a 45-yard field goal and was 4-fof-4 on PAT attempts in a three-point win that kept No. 12 SRU undefeated on the year.
