LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- Lock Haven sophomore Marah Foltz was named the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Year, the league announced Wednesday afternoon in conjunction with the release of the all-conference women’s soccer teams.

All-conference teams and major award winners are determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches.

Foltz is the third Bald Eagle to win the award since 1994 and first since 2002 (Brooke Rangie). The sophomore paced the league in shots (113) while sitting second in points (39). Foltz has amassed 17 goals on the season; which is tied for the best in the league and is tied for 10th in NCAA Division II. The LHU representative finished tied for third in match-winning goals with five. Foltz turned in seven multi-goal games and produced a season-high six points (2g, 2a) in a 6-0 win against Mansfield. She notched match-winning goals in consecutive contests (Gannon, Sept. 29 and East Stroudsburg, Oct. 3).

Kutztown junior goalkeeper Jenna Bracken earned Defensive Athlete of the Year accolades and is the first Golden Bear to accomplish the feat. The junior posted the best save percentage in the PSAC (.915) while tallying 75 saves. Bracken and the Golden Bears entered the week ranked No. 12 in DII. She finished tied for second in the league with eight shutouts while stonewalling 4.41 shots per match. Bracken boasted a .346 goals-against-average; which marks second-best in the league. She allowed only seven goals in 17 matches. It marked the third out of the last five seasons that KU has boasted a major award winner.

Slippery Rock’s Jordyn Minda was tabbed Freshman of the Year and is a first-team all-conference representative. Minda is the fourth SRU athlete to garner the award and first since 2013 (Andrea Felix). The Rock representative accumulated seven goals and two assists on the season. Minda scored SRU’s lone goal in its PSAC Quarterfinal loss to Bloomsburg Tuesday. The freshman scored four match-winning goals, including one against KU (Sept. 1). Minda tallied the lone goal in SRU’s victory at Clarion (Sept. 12) and Shippensburg (Oct. 27).

Millersville’s Matt Procopio claimed the Coach of the Year accolade and is the first Marauder to win any major award in the sport. Procopio’s squad paces the league in goals-per-match (2.167) and shots (362). Under his direction this season, five MU athletes were named to the all-conference team, including three on the first team. The Marauders blanked Seton Hill in a PSAC Quarterfinal Tuesday after hosting the contest for the first time since 2003. MU earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament and will take No. 7-seeded East Stroudsburg Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Bloomsburg.

SHU senior Emily LoPresti and BU senior Allie Barber both appeared on their fourth all-conference team while 19 athletes earned all-conference honors for the first time.
