BLOOMSBURG, Pa. --- East Stroudsburg redshirt juniors Nicole and Carly Abbott have been named the PSAC Women’s Soccer Champion Scholars, the league announced Friday afternoon prior to ESU’s semifinal.

This marks the second time in PSAC history, all sports included, that the award was distributed to two individuals (2011, volleyball).

Nicole Abbott claimed the award in 2017 and this is the third consecutive season that ESU has a representative claim the honor.

The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 award and honor the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 90 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 90 NCAA championships across all three divisions – I, II, and III.

The twin sisters are products of Conshohocken, Pa.  and Plymouth-Whitemarsh. Both have amassed 106 credits toward their special education (early childhood) degrees while boasting spotless 4.0 grade point averages.
