FINAL RESULTS
EDINBORO, Pa. --- Edinboro claimed the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Championship on a rain-filled, blustery morning at the Doug Watts Cross Country Course on the campus of Edinboro in Edinboro, Pa.
The race was an 8K with 127 participants.
The Fighting Scots won their league-leading 30th title after placing four runners in the top 12 and accumulating 48 points.
West Chester senior Josh Coakley won the individual title with a time of 26:47. Coakley is the fourth Golden Ram to win the title and first since 1969 (Dan Lerch). Coakley was named the PSAC Men’s Cross Country Most Outstanding Runner at the event.
Mansfield senior Ryan Clifford impressed and finished second with a time of 26:51. It was the highest finish by a Mountaineer in the history of the event.
Bloomsburg senior Nick McGuire (27:01), Gannon junior Joseph Westrick (27:04) and EU’s Jared Hallow (27:08) finished third through fifth, respectively.
Shippensburg finished second as a team with 62 points after placing five runners in the top 16. Lock Haven grabbed third while Kutztown and IUP were fourth and fifth, respectively.
The NCAA DII Atlantic Regionals will take place Saturday, Nov. 17 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
