DAY TWO RECAP - UPJ's Eddins & Law Win National Titles!
FINAL RESULTS
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa --- Pitt-Johnstown’s Chris Eddins and Cody Law won a NCAA DII Wrestling Championship in their respective weight class Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
This marks the second time in three years that UPJ has produced multiple national champions in the sport. Eddins defeated McKendree’s Darren Wynn by a 4-2 decision to grab the 141-pound crown.
Law edged Larry Bomstad of St. Cloud St., 6-3, to win the 157-pound weight class title.
Overall, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference produced seven All-Americans. Four of them represented UPJ while Kutztown, Millersville and Shippensburg had one apiece.
St. Cloud St. won the team title with 92.5 points. UPJ finished sixth with 54.5 points. KU claimed 17th with 13.5 points while SU tied for 20th with 11.5 points. Mercyhurst and Gannon finished 36th and 37th, respectively. Seton Hill tied for 43rd with 1.5 points.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa --- Seven Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference wrestlers survived day one of the 2018 NCAA DII Wrestling Championships Friday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Four PSAC wrestlers are still alive and wrestling for an NCAA DII title following Friday’s first round and quarterfinal bouts. Below are individual results for each of the four wrestlers vying for a national title.
Three wrestlers are still alive in wrestlebacks and are competing for third place on Saturday: Shane Ruhnke (MILL, 165 lbs), Devin Austin (UPJ, 165 lbs) and DJ Sims (UPJ, 285 lbs).

UPJ leads all PSAC teams with 28.5 points and is tied for sixth while KU is 15th with 11.5. SU is tied for 20th with eight points while MU is tied for 28th with 5.5. Mercyhurst (4.0), Gannon (3.5) and Seton Hill (1.5) are tied for 34th, 37th and tied for 43rd, respectively in the team standings.
SUPER REGION I DAY TWO RECAP
FINAL RESULTS
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. --- 23 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference wrestlers qualified for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship following the conclusion of the Super Region I Wrestling Championship Saturday in Johnstown, Pa.
The NCAA DII Championship will take place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa March 9-10.
The top four finishers in each weight class earned an automatic bid to Nationals.
The PSAC boasted five weight-class winners while UPJ finished second in the team standings with 111.5 points.
Gannon finished fourth with 85 points while Mercyhurst was fifth with 84.5.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. --- The 2018 NCAA Division II Super Region I Wrestling Tournament got underway at the Sports Center Friday on the campus of Pitt-Johnstown in Johnstown, Pa.
Notre Dame (Ohio) leads the team standings with 65.5 points while UPJ is second with 63 and Gannon is third with 51.5.
Overall, six Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference institutions sit in the top 10.
24 PSAC wrestlers are in contention for first place in their respective weight classes while 25 are in contention for third place.
The top four finishers in each weight class earn an automatic bid to participate at the NCAA DII Wrestling Championship.
Day two action begins at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. --- The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown will host the 2018 NCAA Division II Super Region I Wrestling Tournament on Friday and Saturday in the Sports Center. 15 teams and nearly 150 wrestlers are scheduled to participate, with the top-four wrestlers in each of the 10 weight classes advancing to the NCAA Division II National Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 9 and 10.
This year’s Super Region I Tournament will feature six teams ranked in Division II’s top-20, including second-ranked Notre Dame College (Ohio) and sixth-ranked Pitt-Johnstown. In addition, West Liberty (WV) University is 18th, Shippensburg University is 22nd, LIU-Post is 24th and Kutztown University is 25th.
Along with the nationally-ranked teams, Alderson Broaddus (WV) University, American International (MA) College, East Stroudsburg University, Gannon University, Millersville University, Seton Hill University, Shippensburg University, West Liberty (WV) University, and Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University will compete.
In addition, 27 of the nation’s top-ranked individuals will be battling for a spot in the NCAA Division II National Tournament, including top-ranked wrestlers: Darius Bunch (125 lbs.) (West Liberty), Cody Law (157 lbs.) (Pitt-Johnstown), and Kameron Teacher (285 lbs.) (Notre Dame College) and second-ranked Ivan McClay (125 lbs.) (Notre Dame College), Chris Eddins (141 lbs.)
