PSAC Athletes of the Week - 3/12 Monday, March 12, 2018 2:30 PM LACROSSE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Leilani King Gannon (Sr. / MF) St. Albans, Vt. / Bellows Free Academy King recorded six goals, one assist, seven points total, 10 draw controls and five ground balls during an overtime match 16-17 loss at Roberts Wesleyan in Gannon’s only action of the week. King scored six goals on nine shots and helped force overtime with her sixth goal of the game with 1:26 left in regulation tying the match at 16 all. The senior recorded her 21st hat trick and moved into Gannon's all-time top 15 in points with 214 and she became the all-time leader in ground balls with 165 since 2000. She also became the first Lady Knight since 2000 with 300 career draw controls. SOFTBALL CENTRAL DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Morgan Cannin Pitt-Johnstown (Jr. / OF) Jenners, Pa. / North Star Cannin swung a hot bat and finished the week with a .444 clip over the span of six games. The junior went 4-for-5 with a run scoring and a double in UPJ's win against Ursuline. For the week, Canni scored four runs, walked four times and amassed eight hits to go with a pair of RBI. SOFTBALL CENTRAL DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK Megan Risinger IUP (Jr. / P) Creekside, Pa. / Marion Center Risinger picked up a pair of wins and a tough loss while sporting a 1.00 ERA in three contests. The junior tossed five innings while scattering six hits and striking out four in the Crimson Hawks 10-1 win against Salem International. Risinger turned in another complete-game effort while striking out two and scattering seven hits in a 4-3 win against W. Va. Wesleyan. SOFTBALL EASTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Tara Bicko Shippensburg (Sr. / OF) Johnstown, Pa. / Greater Johnstown As Shippensburg's leadoff hitter, Bicko hit .667 (10-for-15) with a homer, double, seven runs, four walks and two sacrifices in a 4-1 weekend for the Raiders. She now has a .538 OBP and .415 average this season. SOFTBALL EASTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK Chloe Collins Shippensburg (Sr. / P) Adamstown, Md. / Tuscarora Collins tossed an eight inning complete game while allowing one unearned run in a win against Winston-Salem State. The senior struck out eight batters while allowing four hits in the contest. SOFTBALL WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Kaity Stocker Gannon (Fr. / C/1B) Tipp City, Ohio / Tippecanoe Stocker hit two home runs and had a career-high four RBI Saturday in the 10-1 win against Winston-Salem State at the Salem Invitational in Virginia. The rookie now has a team-high three home runs and 13 RBI on the year. SOFTBALL WESTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK Brooke Dawson Slippery Rock (Sr. / P) Johnston, Ohio / Maplewood Dawson went 1-1 over the week and hurled a complete-game shutout She threw 7.0 strong innings in her loss garnering 10 strikeouts in a contest against Bridgeport. On Sunday, Dawson surrendered just three hits over 7.0 innings and punched out three in a 4-0 victory over Illinois-Springfield. BASEBALL EASTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Drew Bene Shippensburg (Jr. / C) Lebanon, Pa. / Northern Lebanon In a doubleheader rout of Jefferson (a team that split 1-1 with Le Moyne, and LeMoyne beat Millersville twice), redshirt-junior Drew Bene finished the day 7-for-8 with a home run, two walks, a double and four RBIs to lead SU offensively...he reached base in 9 of his 10 plate appearances on the day. BASEBALL EASTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK Zack Sims Shippensburg (So. / P) Harrisburg, Pa. / Middletown Sims continued his dominance on the mound in a win against Jefferson, throwing six shutout innings while surrendering just one hit. Sims also struck out six Rams, giving him at least six strikeouts in all of his starts this season. BASEBALL WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Abraham Mow Slippery Rock (Fr. / 3B) Milford, Del. / Milford Mow continued his great start to his collegiate career last week by leading The Rock to a pair of wins over traditional Midwest Region powers Grand Valley State and Wayne State. In two games, Mow hit .556 (5-for-9) with one run scored, three RBI, one stolen base and a 1.111 slugging percentage. Included in Mow’s five hits were two doubles and one home run, the first of his career. Mow came a triple away from the cycle against GVSU in what was a 3-for-4, two RBI effort in SRU’s 7-2 win. He followed that up by going 2-for-5 with one RBI, a double and one stolen base in SRU’s 11-7 win against Wayne State. BASEBALL WESTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK Carter Krick California (Sr. / P) Lancaster, Pa. / Manheim Township Krick finished with a 2-0 record while scattering two hits with 10 strikeouts in 7.0 innings of work last week in a pair of appearances. On Monday, he posted 1.0 scoreless inning with one strikeout and earned the victory, as the Vulcans recorded a 7-6 walk-off victory versus West Liberty in Game 2 of doubleheader after scoring five runs in the final inning. The Manheim Township product then earned the win after yielding one run (unearned) on just one hit with a career-high nine strikeouts over 6.0 innings (90 pitches) in a 7-1 victory over Wheeling Jesuit.
