PSAC Women's Basketball Athletes of the Week - 8 Monday, January 14, 2019 2:30 PM WOMEN'S BASKETBALL EASTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Madison Torresin West Chester (Sr. / F) Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley Torresin had a huge week this week as she led West Chester to a pair of crucial PSAC East victories including an upset win over PSAC East leader Bloomsburg on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 73-57. On Wednesday evening at Mansfield, Torresin scored a game-high 18 points while also coming away with five steals in the Golden Rams 62-43 victory over Mansfield. On Saturday afternoon, Torresin found her way into double-figures for the third game in a row as she poured in a season-high 21 points while also coming down with 10 rebounds to lead the Golden Rams to the upset victory over Bloomsburg. Torresin also registered four assists and three steals in the victory over Bloomsburg, which gives her eight steals and six helpers on the week. WOMEN'S BASKETBALL EASTERN DIVISION FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK Zhane Snow West Chester (Fr. / G) Wilmington, Del. / Concord Snow continued her blazing start to the New Year this week as she found her way into double-figures in a pair of Golden Ram victories once again. Against Mansfield on Wednesday evening, Snow shot 7-for-9 from the field on her way to a 16-point performance (just two points shy of her career-high) to help West Chester roll to the road victory over Mansfield. Returning home on Saturday afternoon to take on PSAC East-leading Bloomsburg, Snow shot the ball well once again this time going 5-of-7 from the field for a total of 12 points in the Golden Rams upset victory over the Huskies. WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Carolyn Appleby IUP (Sr. / G) Greensburg, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic Appleby led the No. 1-ranked Crimson Hawks to a pair of big road wins over Mercyhurst and Slippery Rock last week averaging 20.5 points and 5.0 assists per game. The senior moved up to four spots to seventh in IUP history with 1,344 career points. Appleby led IUP in scoring in both games, scoring 17 at Mercyhurst and a season-high 24 points in the win at Slippery Rock. She keyed an offensive output at The Rock with three 3-pointers in the first quarter alone as IUP jumped out to a 27-14 lead after 10 minutes. Appleby played a big distributor role at Mercyhurst with seven assists. The win at Erie was IUP's first ever playing as a No. 1 ranked team and came at a gym where they were just 2-3 in the previous five seasons. WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WESTERN DIVISION FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK Tori Obenrader Gannon (Fr. / G/F) Fryburg, Pa. / North Clarion Obenrader notched the fourth double-digit game of her career, tying a career-high 15 points against Pitt-Johnstown (1/9/19). The freshman went 6-of-9 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc against the Mountain Cats. She chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds against Seton Hill (1/12/19). She combined to go 9-for-13 (69.2%) from the field this week while averaging 19 minutes/game.
