PSAC Men's Basketball Athletes of the Week - 13 Monday, February 18, 2019 2:30 PM MEN'S BASKETBALL EASTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Jake Biss Shippensburg (So. / G) Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe In another 2-0 week for the Raiders, Biss averaged 23.5 PPG, 3.0 APG, and shot 51.7% from the field (63.6%, 7-of-11 from 3-PT) and was 10-of-10 at the free-throw line. In a five-point win over Millersville, Biss led all scorers with 24 points, making three three-pointers and finishing a career-best 9-of-9 at the free-throw line. In a rout of Lock Haven, Biss scored a game-high 23 points in just 25 minutes, shooting 9-of-12 from the field including a career-best 4-of-4 from three-point range. Biss added three assists and two rebounds. Biss has scored at least 23 points in three straight games, and has exceeded 20 points in a game four times this season. Biss has posted double figures in all but two games during his sophomore season. MEN'S BASKETBALL EASTERN DIVISION FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK Travis Elmore Bloomsburg (Fr. / F) Tobyhanna, Pa. / Pocono Mountain West Elmore continued his sensational rookie season for the Huskies by averaging 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in a 1-1 week for the Huskies. Elmore scored 20 points (9-of-10 from the field) and grabbed six rebounds in 22 minutes during the Huskies' 80-64 win over Cheyney on Wednesday night. He then scored 23 points (10-of-14 from the field) and pulled down seven rebounds at Millersville on Saturday afternoon. For the week, Elmore was 19-of-24 (79.2%) from the field in the two games. MEN'S BASKETBALL WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Jacobo Diaz IUP (Sr. / F) Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain / CBA Gran Canaria Diaz scored 23 points on 8-14 shooting to help the third-ranked Crimson Hawks to a 80-67 road win over Pitt-Johnstown Wednesday. Diaz scored 16 of his 23 points in the second half as IUP rallied from a deficit and turned momentum midway through the second half. All four of Diaz's 3-pointers came in the second half, including three in the span of 2 minutes as he turned a slim 64-60 lead with 4:44 left to a 74-63 lead with 2:39 remaining. The four 3-pointers were a season-high and tied a career-high. It was his 10th 20-point game of the season. The loss was the first for Pitt-Johnstown at home this year as the Mountain Cats entered the game with a 10-0 record at the Sports Center MEN'S BASKETBALL WESTERN DIVISION FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK John Paul Kromka Pitt-Johnstown (Fr. / F) Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway Kromka scored 10 points while grabbing four rebounds to go with five assists and a block in an 80-67 loss to No. 3 IUP on Wednesday. The freshman produced career-highs of 28 points and 19 rebounds with five assists, three blocks and three steals in an 84-76 win at California (PA) on Saturday. Kromka shot 12-14 from field and 4-6 from free-throw line at Cal. He broke previous career-highs of 27 points and 12 rebounds.
