LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- West Chester senior Maggie Stella was named the 2019 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Athlete of the Year, the league announced Thursday afternoon in conjunction with the release of the women’s lacrosse all-conference teams.

All-conference teams and major award winners are determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches.

Stella represents the 13th time that West Chester has garnered the award and is the first since 2012 (Tori Dugan). The senior ranks fifth in the PSAC in draw controls (81) and draws per game (4.76). Stella has amassed 41 goals on the season and has scored a goal in all but one contest. She leads a West Chester squad that sits No. 6 in the NCAA DII rankings while the team is riding a nine-game win streak and is the No. 1 seed for the PSAC Championship. She has scored multiple goals in all but three contests, including a season-high five against Lock Haven (April 20). The senior has amassed 18 assists on the season and has delivered a helper in six of the last seven contests.

Millersville’s Grace Cobaugh was tabbed Freshman of the Year. It marks the second time a Marauder has claimed the accolade (Sabrina Fusco, 2015). Cobaugh contributed all over the midfield, totaling 31 points off of 24 goals and seven assists, 28 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and 39 draw controls. The freshman appeared in all 18 games, starting 15, and ranked third on the team in draw controls, fourth in goals and shots (54) and tied for fourth in points. She totaled a season-high four points, three goals and one assist, in Millersville's 15-12 win at Shippensburg on April 2.

Seton Hill’s Courtney Grove was named Coach of the Year for the second time in her career (2014). Under her direction, the Griffins have earned a date in a PSAC Semifinal after upsetting IUP in the quarters, 16-14. Seton Hill sits fourth in the PSAC in goals per game (14.17), points per game (21.28) and assists per game (7.11). The Griffins pace the league in draws per game (16.17). Seton Hill is one of five PSAC teams with an overall winning percentage above .600 (.611). The Griffins will seek to knock off West Chester Friday in a PSAC semi.

IUP senior Ally Burrows and West Chester senior Sami Barnett are making their fourth career appearance on an all-conference team while Meryhurst junior Kira Kolb and Shippensburg senior Valerie Hertz are on the first team for the third time in their respective careers.
