Bloomsburg Wins Fourth PSAC Baseball Championship

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. --- Bloomsburg was declared the 2019 Pennsylvania State Athletic Baseball Champion after the championship was shortened due to weather in Johnstown, Pa.
Following the PSAC policies, the Huskies won the championship based on the leagues criteria for a shortened tournament.
Bloomsburg went 3-0 after defeating No. 20 Mercyhurst (12-0, 7 innings), West Chester and No. 7 Millersville.
Sophomore Ben Newbert was named Most Valuable Player after hitting .364 and slugging 1.000 over three contests. He paced the tournament field with 10 RBI.
Newbert hit a first-inning grand slam in Bloomsburg’s 7-1 win against Millersville Friday, May 10.
The sophomore blasted a three-run game-ending homer against West Chester in a seven inning 14-3 win Saturday, May 11. Newbert drew a bases loaded walk to open scoring the first inning of the contest.
This marks the fourth time that Bloomsburg won the PSAC crown and first since 1965.
The Huskies earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
