Slippery Rock's Viola Lugmayr Earns PSAC Women's Tennis Champion Scholar Honor
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. --- Slippery Rock junior Viola Lugmayr was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Champion Scholar, the league announced Friday morning prior to Slippery Rock’s semifinal match in Bloomsburg, Pa.
Lugmayr is the first The Rock player to claim the award.
The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 award and honor the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 90 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 90 NCAA championships across all three divisions – I, II, and III.
The Linz, Austria native and Georg von Peuerbach graduate has accumulated 65 credits towards her exercise science degree while sporting a flawless 4.0 grade point average.
