West Chester Claims 14th Consecutive PSAC Women's Swimming Championship

YORK, Pa. --- West Chester claimed the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Swimming Championship for the 14th consecutive year after action concluded Saturday evening at the Graham Aquatic Center.
WCU sat atop the field with 1,714.50 points. IUP was second with 1,139.50 points while Bloomsburg finished third with 1027. The Golden Rams captured 14 of the 19 total races while IUP claimed the 200 Fly, 100 Fly, 800 medley relay, and the 200 individual medley.
WCU's Georgia Wright earned PSAC titles in the 1000 free with a time of 9:50.54, a new conference meet record, the 400 IM in 4:22.45, the 500 free in 4:51.18 and the 1650 free with a final time of 16:23.71.
Edinboro's Kately Kopacko snagged the 50 freestyle in 23.12.
IUP's Paige Mikesell garnered the women’s Most Outstanding Swimmer. Mikesell earned PSAC titles in the 800 free relay, 200 yard IM with a time of 2:02.08, 100 yard butterfly in 54.09 and a record breaking 200 fly time of 1:59.22.
The NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving National Championships will take place March 11-14 in Geneva, Ohio.
