11944 MEN'S TENNIS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Frank Yanni
Millersville (Jr.)
Lansdale, Pa. / North Penn


Yanni helped Millersville to a 6-1 win over University of the District of Columbia in the team's first match of the spring by winning 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and also pairing with Rodrigo Lorencin for a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles. The win got Millersville off to its first 5-0 start since the 1998-99 season.

11943 WOMEN'S TENNIS WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Dunarova went 2-0 to help the Crimson Hawks to a perfect weekend with wins over Case Western Reserve and Oberlin. She had the match clinching win Saturday as IUP rallied from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the 29th-ranked Division III Case Western Reserve 5-4. Dunarova was the last on the court, winning a three-setter with scores of 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (9-7) to get the win for IUP. She was down 7-4 in the tiebreak before scoring the final five points. She also won at No. 6 6-2, 6-1 against Oberlin Sunday.
 
11933 SOFTBALL CENTRAL DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Kelsey Impink

Impink has led the Huskies offensively as Bloomsburg has gone 3-3 to open the 2020 season. Through the first six games, Impink has gone 10-of-20 (.500) at the plate with eight runs scored, four doubles, a home run, and nine runs batted in. She also leads the team in on-base percentage (.545) and slugging percentage (.850). Impink has had at least one hit in five of her first six games and has seven hits in her last 12 at bats (spanning three games). Impink has also been sensational in the field, not making an error in 29 total chances while splitting time at second base and shortstop.
 
11938 SOFTBALL CENTRAL DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Abby Wild

Wild tossed a one-hit complete game shutout in a five inning win against Bowie State on Feb. 29. Wild struck out a dozen batters and walked only one batter. She picked up a pair of wins while making four appearances. The junior has accumulated 35 strikeouts in 22 innings. 
 
11934 SOFTBALL EASTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Kopinetz was 8-for-12 with 3 HRs, 2 2Bs, 5 Runs, and 6 RBI’s on the weekend where West Chester went 4-0. The freshman hit three solo homers and a double in a win against IUP. She accumulated a 1.583 slugging percentage and .733 on-base percentage. 
 
11932 SOFTBALL EASTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Maegen Kavanagh

Kavanagh pitched a complete shutout game in the second game of West Chester's Sunday schedule. She allowed allowed four hits, pitched nine strikeouts, and faced 29 batters in the game.
 
11937 SOFTBALL WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Mikulec helped lead Slippery Rock to a 2-2 record last week in a four-game series with non-conference opponent Virginia State. Mikulec finished the weekend a combined 6-for-16 (.375) with a five RBI, three runs scored, two walks and a triple highlighted by a 4-for-7 showing at the plate in game one against the Trojans with a game-high four RBI. Through six games, the sophomore is tied for the team-lead in RBI (5) and total bases (8) while ranking second for The Rock in OPS (.729) and hits (7).  
 
11928 SOFTBALL WESTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Kennedy DeMatteis

DeMatteis retired a season-high seven batters in Gannon's 7-1 win over Tiffin to earn the win in the circle for the Knights. She gave up only five hits, which ties her season low.
 
11857 BASEBALL EASTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Collin Bishop

Bishop went 6-for-10 with two home runs and six RBIs as Kutztown swept a doubleheader against Ohio Dominican on Sunday, March 1. Bishop was 2-for-4, knocked in a run and scored one in the Golden Bears' 5-4 game one victory. He was at the forefront of KU scoring a season-high 16 runs in game two as they completed the sweep. Bishop mashed two home runs, while collecting four hits (4-for-5), five RBIs and four runs scored in a 16-5 win. He produced Kutztown's first four-hit game since April 27, 2018, when he went 4-for-4 against Mansfield, and the program's first five-RBI game since Nick Lafferty drove in six against East Stroudsburg, April 14, 2018. Bishop is hitting .667 (14-for-21) with three doubles, two home runs and 14 RBIs through six games. He's second in the PSAC in batting average, on base percentage (.652) and slugging percentage (1.095) and seventh in RBIs.
 
11939 BASEBALL EASTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Mykut worked a quick pace and tossed six strong innings against Goldey-Beacom on Sunday afternoon in a 6-0 Millersville victory. He allowed no runs, one hit, and walked one batter. He struck out a career-high 11 batters and won his first career game as a Millersville Marauder. His 0.66 ERA and .146 batting average against are best amongst the Marauders starting staff. His 26 strikeouts in 2020 are tied for the team lead.
 
11936 BASEBALL WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Froehlich led the Seton offense to two wins in Florida by going 7-11 at the plate. He finished with 4 runs scored, 3 RBI and a double. The freshman was 4-for-6 with a double against the Sciences beforing going 3-for-5 against Wilmington. 
 
11929 BASEBALL WESTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

McClymonds started his 2020 season on a high note this weekend with a great performance on the mound in The Rock’s 6-2 victory at West Virginia State. McClymonds scattered two runs over six innings of work while striking out nine batters and holding WVSU to a .190 batting average against. McClymonds’ nine strikeouts were the most by a PSAC West pitcher this week. He allowed just three runners past first base in the 100-pitch outing. 
 
11935 LACROSSE EASTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Mitarotonda helped fuel East Stroudsburg's pair of victories this past week as the Warriors improved to 3-0 to begin the season. The junior attacker registered a combined 11 goals, eight draw controls and three ground balls in the two contests. In Friday's win at No. 16 Saint Leo, Mitarotonda netted a career-high eight goals while also adding five draws and three ground balls to propel the Warriors to victory in a battle of ranked teams. She added three more goals in a big 20-5 victory in a neutral site matchup vs. Gannon on Sunday.
 
11927 LACROSSE EASTERN DIVISION DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Pokrivka was key on the team's defensive unit, helping lead the Warriors to victories at No. 16 Saint Leo and vs. Gannon this past week. Pokrivka tied her career-high with four caused turnovers while also adding seven ground balls at Friday at Saint Leo, and she followed it up with one caused turnover and her first career goal in Sunday's big 20-5 win vs. Gannon.
    
11930 LACROSSE WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Tufts upped her already impressive scoring streak to start the season, netting 10 goals in a pair of games this week, and also adding three ground balls and three caused turnovers. The sophomore netted a career-high six goals in an 18-14 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic Saturday to move the Knights to 3-0 on the season, scoring twice during a key 4-0 run to start the second half that gave Gannon some breathing room. She tallied four of Gannon's five goals on Sunday against No. 12 East Stroudsburg, and stands second in the PSAC with 4.5 goals per game this season.
  
11931 LACROSSE WESTERN DIVISION DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Girardi is one of the elite goalkeepers in DII and she proved why as Lock Haven opened the 2020 season. Through two games, she has 24 saves. In a narrow season-opening loss to rival Bloomsburg, Girardi kept Lock Haven in the game with a brilliant 11-save effort. She helped power the Bald Eagles to victory over Georgian Court with 13 saves. The 13 saves helped carry Lock Haven to a 15-10 win Friday. In two games, Girardi also had seven ground balls and a caused turnover. 
 
11596 MEN'S BASKETBALL EASTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Heath had 26 points and 13 rebounds in an 86-69 win over Millersville University on Wednesday and followed that up with 39 points and 10 rebounds in a 103-87 loss at East Stroudsburg University on Saturday. Heath averaged five assists and 3.5 steals in the two games while shooting 59.5 percent from the floor including 7-of-10 makes from three-point range. He played 67 minutes total this past week.
    
11918 MEN'S BASKETBALL EASTERN DIVISION DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Najdawi helped Millersville clinch the No. 4 seed with a home win over Lock Haven by blocking four shots and recording a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. His four blocked shots matched a season high. Earlier in the week at West Chester, he blocked a shot and grabbed eight rebounds to go with 20 points
 
11916 MEN'S BASKETBALL WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Trey Staunch

Staunch inished his career with back-to-back 20-point efforts in a loss to Slippery Rock and a win over Seton Hill, snapping a 16-game losing streak. The 6'4" forward battled Slippery Rock's Micah Till in the post and finished with 23 points (8-12 FGs, 7-7 FTs) and 4 rebounds. Against Seton Hill, he totaled 25 points (11-17 FGs, 3-4 FTs) and 20 rebounds, the most rebounds by a Fighting Scot since the 2012-13 season. It was his seventh double-double of the season. He would play basketball for three seasons, and wraps up his career just shy of the 1,000-500 club. In 77 games, he totaled 982 points and 492 rebounds.
  
11453 MEN'S BASKETBALL WESTERN DIVISION DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

John Paul Kromka

Kromka averaged 7.5 defensive rebounds and two blocks per contest while Pitt-Johnstown split the week. The sophomore swatted a pair of shots, accumulated two steals and five devensive rebounds in a win against Seton Hill. In a tough loss to IUP, He blocked a pair of shots while grabbing 10 defensive rebounds. 
 
11450 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL EASTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

In a division-clinching win over playoff-bound Shepherd on Wednesday, Jones led all players with 32 points, her eighth 30-point game of the year. Jones made all four Shippensburg's three-pointers on the night and was a season-best 14-of-16 at the free-throw line. She also had eight rebounds and three steals and equaled a career high with three blocks.
 
11919 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL EASTERN DIVISION DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Redman led the Bald Eagles in rebounds in both games this week, recording 12 against East Stroudsburg and 11 against Millersville. The junior added two steals and 10 points against East Stroudsburg, marking her fourth double-double of the season. She notched a season-high 37 minutes in the Bald Eagles victory over East Stroudsburg. 
 
11920 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Trest helped the Griffins to the sixth and final playoff spot with a win over Edinboro. She scored a season high 33 points and added 5 assists. That is the fourth most scored by a Griffin since joining the NCAA. She averaged 22.5 points and 4.5 assists in the week. 
 
11917 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WESTERN DIVISION DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Nolan helped the Griffins to the third and final playoff spot with a win over Edinboro. She averaged 17.5 rebounds and 14 points per game. She had a season high 20 rebounds in the win over Edinboro.
