East Stroudsburg's Cassie Ksiazek Claims PSAC Women's Basketball Champion Scholar Award
INDIANA, Pa. --- East Stroudsburg redshirt freshman Cassie Ksiazek was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Champion Scholar, the league announced Saturday afternoon prior to East Stroudsburg’s semifinal in Indiana, Pa.
She is the first Warrior to claim the award in the sport.
The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 award and honor the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 90 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 90 NCAA championships across all three divisions – I, II, and III.
The South Abington Township, Pa., native and Abington Heights graduate has accumulated 54 credits towards her early childhood education degree while boasting a 3.98 grade point average.
