Gannon Uses Strong Second Half to Upset No. 7 IUP to Win 2020 PSAC Women's Basketball Title

INDIANA, Pa. ---- Gannon overcame a sluggish first half to win the 2020 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship with a 50-40 win against No. 7 IUP at the Kovalchick Complex Sunday afternoon in Indiana, Pa.
 
The Golden Knights improved to 25-6 on the season and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA DII Women’s Basketball Championship. The selection show is set to air at 10 p.m. Sunday evening.
 
IUP fell to 28-3 with the loss.
 
The 90-point total is the lowest point total in a championship game.
 
Gannon claimed its second PSAC title in school history (2010).
 
Gannon sophomore Tori Obenrader was named the Most Valuable Player after producing a 17-point, 16-rebound double-double. She was the game leader in both categories.

Gannon used a stingy defense and held IUP to a season-low 25% from the floor (12-for-48).
 
IUP held an 18-10 lead at halftime and was able to hold Gannon scoreless for 8:48 in the second quarter.
 
Gannon made halftime adjustments and outscored the Crimson Hawks 40-22 in the second half.
 
Both teams struggled from deep while combining to go 5-for-31.
 
Gannon senior Chelsea Rourke produced a game-high four assists.
