IUP wins third straight PSAC Men’s Golf Title

HERSHEY, Pa. --- The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Crimson Hawks captured their third consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship Sunday after carding a team total of 875 (+23) defeating Gannon University (881, +29) by six strokes, from the Hershey Country Club’s East Course in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
 
IUP was led by PSAC Championship tournament medalist, Isaiah Swan, who carded a 71 (E) in round one, a 69 (-2) with an ace on 13 in round two, and a 73 (+1) in round three.
 
Jackson Buccigross of IUP was the team’s second-best finisher, shooting a 73 (+1), 70 (-1) and a 76 (+5).
 
Shaun Fedor (72, 78, 71), Nicholas Ward (76, 72, 79) and Richie Kline (78, 73, 81) rounded out the IUP five.
 
The PSAC Championship runner-up went to Gannon. The Golden Knights were led by Abe Holmes and Connor Bennink who finished second and third, respectively, in the individual leaderboards. Holmes shot a 69 (-2), 72 (+1) and a 74 (+3) while Bennink shot a 73 (+1), 79 (+8) and 76 (+5).
 
Rounding out the top four teams were Mercyhurst (890, +38) and Pitt-Johnstown (891, +39). The Mountain Cats actually led after day one of the tournament.
 
For the Crimson Hawks, it’s their third consecutive PSAC title and their 31st overall.
