QUICK HITS
WCU – The top two rushing offenses in the PSAC went head-to-head last week in WCU and ESU. The Golden Rams got the better of the Warriors winning, 42-24. WCU had its most yards rushing in a game this season with 326.
SHEP – Typically a high-powered passing attack, the Rams had a big day on the ground in a win over Millersville last week. Shepherd running back Ronnie Brown rushed for 21 times for 185 yards and a touchdown.
ROCK – Last week, Slippery Rock suffered its first PSAC loss since 2017, falling to IUP at home, 48-21. Four turnovers plagued SRU turning the ball over a pair of times in the first half, resulting in IUP scores. The loss snapped a streak of 19 straight PSAC West wins, and 25 straight wins against unranked opponents.
HURST – Mercyhurst got an exciting overtime win over Edinboro last week, 27-20. It was Mercyhurst’s first overtime victory since 2011. The Lakers were led by Joe Carter who threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns.
BORO – Edinboro’s overtime loss at Hurst was tough, but the Fighting Scots got a bright performance from Isaac Bernard who was 26-of-36 for 265 yards and 2 TDs.
GANN – Gannon and Seton Hill played a nail biter in Greensburg on Saturday, defeating Seton Hill, 14-10. Melvin Blanks sed career highs in yards rushing (195) and carries (25) while scoring the game-winning touchdown.
SHU – The Griffins played in yet another close battle this season. All but one of their seven contests have been decided by 11-or-less points this year.
CLAR – Clarion and Cal did not compete last week due to a COVID-19 issue, and the result as no contest.
BLOOM – The Huskies played their best contest of the year last week defeating Lock Haven, 44-0. The offense combined for 473 total yards including 273 from David LePoidevin who was 7-of-16 for 246 yards in the air. He also threw a career-best three touchdowns.
ESU – The second-best rushing team in the PSAC was held to just 88 yards on the ground by West Chester’s defense in a 42-24 loss. Wide receiver Rece Bender had a solid day, however, with a career-high 157 yards receiving pulling in two 50-plus yard receptions.
VILLE – The Marauders had a tough opponent in Shepherd last week falling, 38-13. The Ville defense played them tough for parts of the game, picking off Harlon Hill Candidate Tyson Bagent three times.
SHIP – The Raider offense was held to just three points on the day against Kutztown, losing 20-3. They combined for just 143 total yards including just 16 yards. Kicker Jaxon Montross scored Shippensburg’s only points via 34-yard field goal.
CAL U – Cal and Clarion did not compete last week due to a COVID-19 issue, and the result as no contest.
IUP – IUP took down No. 6 Slippery Rock last week in upsetting fashion defeating The Rock on its homecoming Saturday. The Hawks never trailed in the contest, winning 48-21. IUP was led by Harry Woodbery who threw for 312 yards and five touchdowns.
KUTZ – The Golden Bears took down Shippensburg handily last week, holding the Raiders to just three points and under 200 yards of total offense. Tyler Whary had seven total tackles including 2.0 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss.
LHU – Lock Haven was held scoreless for the second time this season falling to Bloomsburg, 44-0. The Bald Eagles totaled just 96 yards of offense.
