Shippensburg wins NCAA Division II Field Hockey Title

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Shippensburg University Field Hockey team defeated West Chester University 3-0 to win the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship at Biemesderfer Stadium on the campus of Millersville University.
 
The Raiders scored all three goals in the first quarter and Lindsay Tripodo made three saves to preserve the win.
 
Shippensburg took a 1-0 lead just 87 seconds into the game when Jenna Sluymer sent in a shot from the right side. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Athlete of the Year Jazmin Petrantonio scored six minutes later. The third goal of the game came from Valu Paul at 7:37.
 
West Chester took five shots, four of which were on target, and received four corners. Claire Nielsen made four saves and allowed three goals.
 
Shippensburg claimed its fifth national title (2013, 2016, 2017, 2018). The Raiders won their 11th consecutive NCAA playoff game, a streak dating back to 2016.
