PSAC Baseball Athletes of the Week - 2
The PSAC office announced this week’s baseball athletes of the week. From the East, East Stroudsburg’s Cam Voss and Bloomsburg’s Kyle OFier were honored, while in the West, Pitt-Johnstown’s Dylan Heid and Slippery Rock’s Connor Hamilton were selected.
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference office announced this week’s baseball athletes of the week. From the East, East Stroudsburg University’s Cam Voss and Bloomsburg University’s Kyle OFier were honored, while in the West, the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown’s Dylan Heid and Slippery Rock University’s Connor Hamilton were selected.

Kyle OFier helped the Huskies to a 3-1 opening weekend against PSAC East rival Shepherd. He hit .636 (7-for-11) and was also walked three times. He reached base safely in 10 of his 14 plate appearances (.714 OBP). Of his seven hits, OFier had a double and a home run for a slugging percentage of 1.000. In the season opener at Shepherd, his three-run homer in the top of the fourth inning erased a 4-3 deficit and gave the Huskies the lead for good, going on to win, 6-4. It was his 19th career home run which tied him for seventh on the school’s all-time home run list. He had at least one hit in all four games including a 3-for-4 performance in BU’s 10-9 victory in game one Saturday.

East Stroudsburg left-hander pitched in two key victories for the Warriors last week. In his first non-conference matchup against Chesnut Hill, he hurled two shutout innings striking out three batters and allowing one hit. He followed that performance with a complete-game victory over Shippensburg later in the week in which he punched out 11 of his 29 batters faced.

Connor Hamilton – Slippery Rock

Slippery Rock University catcher Connor Hamilton continued his great start to the 2021 season while leading SRU to a perfect 4-0 week with doubleheader sweeps of Indiana (Pa.) and Frostburg State. In four games, Hamilton hit .733 (11-for-15) with eight runs, two home runs and nine RBI while slugging 1.467 with a .750 on-base percentage. In all, six of Hamilton’s nine hits went for extra bases. Hamilton hit safely in all four games to extend his hitting streak to 15 games (dating back to last year). Hamilton collected at least two hits in each game last week with the highlight being a 4-for-4, two-run, three-RBI, one-home run showing during SRU’s 7-5 victory over IUP.

Dylan Heid repeats as PSAC Western Division Pitcher of the Week after hurling a seven-inning complete-game in Saturday’s 5-2 UPJ victory over Fairmont State. He allowed just two runs (one earned) on three hits and tallied 13 punchouts.
