WOMEN'S RECAP

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. ---
The Edinboro University Fighting Scots claimed their 20th Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country title after winning the 2020-21 PSAC Cross Country Championship Saturday afternoon in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.
 
The Edinboro women had a score of 58 points en route to the championship placing three runners in the top five including top finisher, Stefanie Parsons. Kimberly Goerss and Anna Alberti placed third and fourth Boro.
 
Lock Haven was the runner-up tallying 83 points, with Laurel Moyer and Cadie Kiser finishing second and fifth, respectively.
 
Seton hill and Gannon were third and fourth, registering 118 points each.
 
Slippery Rock rounded out the top five teams with 166 points.
 
The top 15 finishers earned First-Team All-PSAC honors while the next 15 finishers earned Second-Team All-PSAC honors. The full top 30 finishers are listed below:

MEN'S RECAP

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. ---
The Edinboro University Fighting Scots won their third consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country title after winning the 2020-21 PSAC Cross Country Championship Saturday afternoon in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.
 
The Edinboro men registered 22 points on to earn the title with three men in the top five, and five in the top 10. Colton Cassel was the top finisher, while Danny Desmond and Ward Ries were third and fourth, respectively.
 
Finishing second was Shippensburg University tallying 64 points. Chayce Macknair eclipsed the top five finishing fifth, while Andrew Dailey placed ninth.
 
Lock Haven was third recording 79 points, while Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Gannon University finished fourth and fifth, respectively, to round out the top five teams.
 
The top 15 finishers earned First-Team All-PSAC honors while the next 15 finishers earned Second-Team All-PSAC honors. The full top 30 finishers are listed below:

WOMEN'S CHAMPION SCHOLAR

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- East Stroudsburg University senior Lauren Reightneour has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Champion Scholar, the league office announced Saturday at the 2020-21 PSAC Women’s Cross Country Championship in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.
 
Reightneour is the second ESU women’s cross country student-athlete to earn the award. The last Warriors women’s cross country student-athlete to earn champion scholar honors was Lisa Lower in 2011-12.

The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 award and honor the student-athlete with the top grade-point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 90 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 89 NCAA championships across all three divisions – I, II, and III.
 
The Birdsboro, Pennsylvania native recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in health and physical education.
 

MEN'S CHAMPION SCHOLAR

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. ---
Gannon University sophomore Caleb Mandel has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Champion Scholar, the league office announced Saturday at 2020-21 PSAC Men’s Cross Country Championship in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.
 
Mandel is the fourth consecutive Golden Knight to earn the champion scholar award for men’s cross country. He joins Joseph Westwick (2019-20) and Garrett Sutton (2018-19 and 2017-18).

The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 award and honor the student-athlete with the top grade-point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The Harborcreek, Pennsylvania native recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in the physician assistant program at GU.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. ---
The 2020-21 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship will take place Saturday, March 20 from the West Branch Cross Country Course at the Stern Athletic Complex on the campus of Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.
 
Both the men’s and women’s races will be contested at the 5K distance with the women’s race beginning at 1:30 p.m., and the men’s race starting at 2:30 p.m.
 
This will be the first time that the PSAC Cross Country Championship will take place during the spring semester since cross country lost its Fall 2020 regular season due to COVID-19.
 
No spectators will be permitted at the event, however, the PSAC will be livestreaming the races on the PSAC Digital Network. You can find the link at the top of this release.
 
On both the women’s and men’s side in 2019, Edinboro University won the PSAC Cross Country Championship. For the women, Edinboro earned 60 points and had four competitors in the top 15 to earn First-Team All-PSAC honors. The Edinboro men won the 2019 championship totaling 63 points and having a trio earn First-Team All-PSAC status.
 
The Edinboro women have won three PSAC women’s cross country championships since 2015 including 2019, 2017 and 2015. They currently have the most PSAC women’s cross country individual champions with 12.
 
Another dominant women’s team in the last few years has also been Shippensburg University. The Raiders have won a pair of PSAC women’s cross country championships since 2015 including 2018 and 2016.
 
The Edinboro men have won back-to-back PSAC cross country championships and will aim to three-peat. The Fighting Scots also have the most individual champions with 24.
 
Shippensburg is the other most recent PSAC champion capturing a cross country title in 2017.
