2020-21 PSAC Swimming Championships, Day 4 Results
Day 4 (Session 3, Session 4)
Women
- IUP swam away with the PSAC Title totaling 1658 points, 340.5 points ahead of second-place Bloomsburg.
- IUP's win was its second PSAC Women's Swimming Title and their first since 1999.
- The Crimson Hawk's Paige Mikesell captured the Most Outstanding Swimmer honor tallying 128 points of her own.
- IUP showed its depth on day two, earning wins in the 100 Yard Breastroke, the 200 Fly, and the 800 Free Relay in the morning session. They concluded in the evening session with wins in the 100 Yard Free, the 200 Yard Breastroke, and the 400 Yard Free Relay.
- It was IUP’s second ever PSAC Women’s Swimming Champion, and for the institution, it was their second PSAC Championship of 2020-21 after the IUP Men’s Golf Team won the Championships back on April 10.
DAY 3 (Session 1, Session 2)
WOMEN
- IUP leads the meet at the end of day one with 800 points, while Bloomsburg sits in second with 646 points.
- Shippensburg is in third place with 479 points and Gannon is in fourth with 398 points.
- National Champion Paige Mikesell leads all IUP scorers with 64 points after winning the 200 Yard IM (2:04.74), the 100 Yard Fly (54.43) and helped the Crimson Hawks place first in the 400 Yard Medley Relay.
- IUP's Rachel Johnson is the next top performer capturing a victory in the 400 Yard IM (4:30.48).
- Bloomsburg's Lindsay Mooney was the Huskies top performer of the day tallying 54 helping the team to wins in the 200 Yard Medley Relay and the 200 Yard Free Relay. She also has a second-place finish individually; in the 100 Yard Fly (56.96).
DAY 2 (Session 3, Session 4)
MEN
- Bloomsburg captured the 2020-21 championship tallying 945 total points.
- The Huskies were led by Andy Thomas who was first in all his events and broke a trio of records.
- Their first victory of the day came in the 100 Yard Breaststroke when Thomas earned another win with a time of 54.42. They then banded together to win the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay at the end of the third session.
- In the final session, Thomas broke a PSAC and a meet record in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 44.20 after the 1650 Freestyle. The Huskies then capped off their victory finishing first in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:01.27.
- Clarion’s Connor Cary claimed meet top performer honors with top finishes in the Men’s 200 Yard IM (1:49.91), the 100 Yard Fly (48.98) and the 200 Yard Fly (1:49.11).
DAY 1 (Session 1, Session 2)
MEN
- At the end of day one, Bloomsburg has an impressive lead over second-place Shippensburg with the Huskies tallying 483 points and the Raiders recording 284.
- The Huskies won both relays on the day including the 200 Yard Medley (1:31.05) and the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:23.08). They also had four of the top-5 finishers in the 50 Yard Freestyle.
- Shippensburg had quite an impressive finish in the 200 Yard IM finishing 1-4 with Michael Salvatori, Andrew Hale, Matthew Bochanski and Vin Salvatore each right behind each other.
- The only PSAC men's swimmer to make nationals, IUP's Luke Mikesell, won the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 9:31.99.
- We also had a PSAC meet record-breaking performance in the 200 Yard Freestyle coming from Bloomsburg's Andy Thomas who won the event with a time of 1:35.53.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The 2020-21 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Swimming Championships will begin Wednesday, April 21 and conclude Saturday, April 24, from the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pennsylvania.
We will see a different champion in men’s swimming for the first time since 1998, and a different champion on the women’s side for the first time since 2006 with West Chester not competing. The last PSAC Men’s and Women’s Swimming Champions besides West Chester were both Clarion.
Making their way to York for the championships will be Bloomsburg, California (Pa.), Clarion, East Stroudsburg (W), Edinboro, Gannon, Indiana (Pa.), Lock Haven (W), Millersville (W) and Shippensburg.
On both the men’s and women’s side, IUP had Luke Mikesell (M), Rachel Johnson (W), Claire Mikesell (W) and Iliana Oikonomou compete at the 2021 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. Paige Mikesell ended up earning National Champion honors in the 200 Yard Freestyle.
Gannon’s Silvija Taraska also competed in the 200 Yard Freestyle at the National Championships.
The first two days will consist of the men’s events while day’s three and four will consist of the women’s events. Please refer to the table below for more details:
