Shippensburg captures Women’s 2021 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Title

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. --- The Shippensburg University Raiders earned the 2021 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship Saturday from Seth Grove Stadium in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. The Raiders earned 131 total points, while Slippery Rock University finished behind them with 94.5 points.
Shippensburg got wins in the Women’s 4x400m, the 400m Hurdles, the Long Jump and the Shot Put.
The Raiders 4x400 team of Lieke Black, Rachel Bruno, Caroline Mastria and Leah Graybill ran a 3:55.12 for the win, while later, Black ran a 1:04.10 to win the 400 Hurdles. Zarria Williams got a win in the Long Jump with a 5.97 mark and Kate Matrisciano had a Shot Put mark of 14.50 for her victory.
Slippery Rock as the runner-up got key wins in field events including the Discus and Javelin. Jena Reinheimer of the Rock threw a 46.79 mark in the discus while Danielle Collier threw a 47.82 mark in javelin. They also finished 1st and 2nd in the event overall with Trinity Clark throwing a 45.34 mark.
The most outstanding Track athlete of the meet was Stefanie Parsons of Edinboro University. She captured a 5,000m victory with a time of 17:38.37 and a win in the 1,500m with a meet record and DII provisional time of 4:23.97.
Rock’s Reinheimer was the Field athlete of the meet after capturing the Discus crown and was third in the Hammer Throw with a 51.99 mark.
California University of Pennsylvania’s Divonne Franklin was the overall MVP of the meet winning the 200m with a 24.78 time, and the 100m with an 11.85 time. She also helped California earn the women’s 4x100 win.
