QUICK HITS
SHIPP – Brycen Mussina claimed is second consecutive PSAC Athlete of the Week honor after his performance against Bloomsburg. The Raiders are off to a hot start and are now receiving votes in the AFCA DII Coaches Poll.
SHEP – For Shepherd’s last regular season loss, we have to go all the way back to Sept. 7 of 2019 against Ohio Dominican. The Rams fell for the first time since then against Kutztown last week, 37-29.
LHU – In last week’s home-opening loss against ESU, Dymeir Still was a special teams spark. On five kick returns he racked up 140 yards, including a 46-yarder.
VILLE – Defensively, the Mardauders have some talented tacklers. Last week, Isaiah Onuschak finished with two sacks, four tackles for loss and nine total stops. Garrett Cox added a career-high nine tackles, and Tyler Tate totaled 2 1/2 tackles for loss, four QB hurries and a forced fumble.
ESU – Rece Bender earned PSAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week after a 99-yard kick-off return touchdown against LHU on Saturday, the longest kick return TD of the PSAC season.
KUTZ – Antaun Lloyd garnered PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors in the east last week after tallying an interception and a special teams touchdown in Kutztown’s win over Shepherd.
BLOOM – The Huskies lone touchdown last week was scored by Nyfease West on a 48-yard pass thrown by David LePoidevin. The Huskies have a game-scoring streak of 198-straight contests.
WCU – WCU had its first Golden Rams-type contest on Saturday. They exploded for 455 yards of total offense scoring five touchdowns.
GANN – The 56 points are the most scored since a 76-31 win over Seton Hill in 2017. Kory Curtis accounted for five touchdowns, throwing for four TDs and running for a fifth.
IUP – Harry Woodbery had a big game in his season debut. He accounted for five touchdowns going 15-for-22 for 146 yards with four passing TDs and one rushing.
HURST – Hurst had its homecoming spoiled in the loss to IUP, but had some bright spots. Thomas Zacharyasz ended the contest with 12 total tackles while quarterback Michael Lowery threw for 135 yards and a touchdown.
CAL – After Cal’s win over Boro, the Vulcans were ranked tied for 25th in the latest AFCA Top 25. Cal’s strength continues to be its defense holding Boro to just 104 yards of total offense and 12 points.
BORO – Boro continues to battle, but struggle this season falling to 0-3 and 0-1 in league games. Two of its losses have been by eight or less points in 2021.
SHU – SHU got off to a solid start despite its loss against SRU. Damonte Pratt picked off the first play of the game and returned it to the SHU 25 eventually leading to the Griffins scoring first. However, SRU’s high-powered offense kicked it into geart and won the game, 41-17.
CLAR – Clarion is off to a tough start in 2021 falling in its first four games. The last time the Golden Eagles went 0-4 to begin a season was 2017, where they finished the year 1-10.
ROCK – Henry Litwin and Andrew Koester teamed up for nine catches, 148 yards and a trio of touchdowns in Rock’s commanding win over Seton Hill last week.
