LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced this week’s swimming athletes of the week. On the men’s side, two co-athletes were selected between IUP’s Blake Hendricks and Bloomsburg’s Andy Thomas. The women’s side also named co-athletes with Gannon’s Sterre van de Goor and Bloomsburg’s Rylee Wenzel both winning the award.

Blake Hendricks posted three wins on the day in a tri-meet sweep of Washington & Jefferson and Chatam on Saturday. He placed first in 500 free (4:58.91), and was also part of two winning relays, coming in the 200 medley relay (total time 1:35.53; split time of 25.19) and 200 free relay (total time of 1:27.30; split time of 21.89).

This week, Andy Thomas placed first in three events. His times in the 200 free (1.41:93) and 100 free (45.84) are currently the fastest times in the PSAC. Hendricks also anchored a first-place 200 medley relay (1:36.45).

Sterre an de Goor won a pair of events in Saturday's dual meet at the Rochester Institute of Technology, claiming both distance freestyle events (the 500 free in 5:15.96 and the 1000 free in 10:48.91.) Both of those times are PSAC qualifying times. The Gannon women's team almost caught RIT for the dual meet win, falling by an eight-point margin, 154-146.

Rylee Wenzel

Rylee Wenzel won three events at a tri-meet against Millersville and Edinboro. She won the 50 free with a 24.28 time (second-fastest current time in PSAC), the 100 free with a 52.65 time (third-fastest current time in PSAC), and anchored the winning 200 medley relay that finished 1:49.31.
