LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The 2022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships are set for Feb. 26-27 at the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Dome on the campus of Edinboro University. The championship is returning after not being contested in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the men’s side, Shippensburg University will be looking to claim its 11th consecutive Indoor Track & Field Championship. Shippensburg is ranked no. 1 in the Atlantic Region, followed by Slippery Rock at no. 3, East Stroudsburg in 8
th, Seton Hill in 9
th, Lock Haven in 10
th, and Kutztown at no. 11. The Raiders are led by 2020 Most Valuable Athlete Drew Dailey who will run in the 800-meter, 1 mile, 4x400 relay, and men’s distance relay events. In the field, Mason Boyd of Shippensburg leads the conference with a 7.03 meter high jump and he will also participate in the heptathlon. Other track athletes to keep an eye on are Samuel Hartman of Seton Hill in the 60 meter hurdles and the Lock Haven distance medley relay squad — both have achieved NCAA DII provisional marks. Over in the field, Will Rivers of West Chester earned an NCAA DII provisional mark in the triple jump, John Eakin of Slippery Rock has an NCAA DII provisional in the shot put, and Jason Goodman will compete against Boyd in the heptathlon.
For the women, Slippery Rock will attempt to defend its 2020 title, with Edinboro, Kutztown, Shippensburg, and Cal U all looking to claim the championship. Slippery Rock will look to Cecily Greggs in the high jump. Her season-high of 1.68 meters is second in the conference and earned her an NCAA provisional mark. Ashanti Richardson is tied for the third-fastest time in the conference in the 60 meter hurdles. In the 200 meters, Leah Graybill of Shippensburg and Riyana Owens of Lock Haven have each run faster this season than the previous conference record of 24.66 seconds set by Divonne Franklin of Cal U in 2020. Franklin holds the third-fastest time in the PSAC this season. They will all run in the event this weekend. Sarah Supplee of West Chester holds NCAA DII provisional marks in the mile and 3,000 meter events. On the field side, three athletes have reached NCAA DII provisional marks in the shot put — Hannah Woelfling and Aliyah Striver of Millersville, and Elizabeth Makar of East Stroudsburg. Woelfling and Striver also hold NCAA DII provisionals in the weight throw.
