Pitcher

Kutztown junior right-hander Dominic Proietto struck out 17 over seven hitless innings and combined with Paul Moretski to no-hit Alderson Broaddus in the Golden Bears' 4-0 win Saturday evening. Proietto's 17 strikeouts were a career-high, the most by a Kutztown pitcher in the StatCrew era (since 1999) and believed to be the program's highest single-game total since Pete Riffle struck out 19 batters against Philadelphia Textile on April 20, 1966. It was also KU's first nine-inning no-hitter during the StatCrew era. The Norristown, Pa., native struck out the side in the first, third, sixth and seventh innings. Only two batters reached base against him, one on an error in the first and another on a walk in the seventh. For the season, Proietto leads the PSAC with 32 strikeouts and is currently sitting at a 20.4 K/9 rate through 14.1 innings pitched in three appearances.
