Gannon’s Connor Bennink Earns NCAA Men’s Golf Elite 90™ Award

DEARBORN, Mich. --- Gannon University Sophomore Men’s Golfer Connor Bennink earned the NCAA Elite 90™ Award for the 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship Sunday at the practice round at TPC Michigan in Dearborn, Michigan.
 
Bennink, a Finance major carries a 4.00 GPA for the Golden Knights.
 
He is the third Gannon student-athlete to be the recipient of the Elite 90 award. Joseph Westrick won the award in 2019-20 for men’s cross country and Lydia Lukomski was the recipient for volleyball the same year.
 
Bennink and the Golden Knights are making their second consecutive appearance in the National Championships for Men’s Golf.
 
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
 
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.
