LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week. In the West, Pitt-Johnstown's Lualis Alvarado was selected as Athlete of the Week while Gannon's Emma Hall was named Defensive Athlete of the Week. In the East, East Stroudsburg's Anna Coulter (Athlete) and Shippensburg's Kaitlyn Townsend (Defensive) earned the honors.

Alvarado led Pitt-Johnstown to a successful week that included a 3-0 sweep over Clarion, averaging 18 kills, 7.3 digs, 2.3 block assists, and 17.5 points per match. She notched a career-high 25 kills in a 3-1 non-conference victory at Shippensburg, and added a match-high 14 kills (.333 hitting percentage), 10 digs, three block assists, and 16.5 points in the home victory against Clarion. She completed the week with a team-high nine kills, four digs, two block assists, and 10 points against IUP on Saturday.

The junior libero moved into the No. 4 spot in Gannon volleyball history with 1,613 career digs after finishing the week with a team-high 41 digs, while also dishing out six assists, to help lead the Golden Knights to wins over California (Pa.) and Seton Hill and remain at the top of the PSAC West standings.

Coulter, the reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week, averaged 4.16 kills, 1.5 digs, 0.6 aces and 0.6 blocks per set to go along with a remarkable .615 hitting percentage (25 kills, 1 error, 39 attacks) in a pair of victories for ESU, which helped extend the Warriors' win streak to 15 straight. In a sweep of Lock Haven on Friday night, Coulter finished with 10 kills, three digs, three blocks and a .529 hitting percentage. She followed that up on Saturday with a match-high 15 kills on a .682 hitting percentage to go along with six digs, four aces, one block and an assist in a three-set victory at Bloomsburg. Among PSAC rankings, Coulter is first in hitting percentage, fourth in points, seventh in aces, ninth in kills and 11th in blocks per set.

Townsend guided the Shippensburg defense to a 2-1 week in which they defeated two more PSAC East opponents. Townsend recorded at least four blocks in each match and ended the week with 15 total--on top of a solid offensive output of 27 overall kills and a .407 hitting percentage. Townsend began the week by picking up four block assists in a loss to Pitt-Johnstown, followed by a five-block (two solo) performance in a win at West Chester on Friday. On Saturday at Millersville, Townsend closed the week with a season high of six total blocks while also matching a season high of three solo blocks. Townsend has now compiled 80 total blocks for the season to rank eighth in the conference as well as 21 solo blocks to rank fourth.
