PSAC announces Spring Top 10 honorees

The PSAC Top 10 awards began during the 1998-99 season, with the conference's sports information directors nominating and voting for the student-athlete standouts.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference is pleased to announce its 2022-23 Spring Top 10 award recipients, nominated and voted on by the sports information directors of the conference.
 
The PSAC Top 10 was initiated in the 1998-99 academic year and is awarded to those men and women who excel in both the classroom and in athletic competition.

The honorees for Spring 2022-23 are Kylie Anicic (Edinboro), Ralph Casper (West Chester), Shaun Fedor (IUP), Divonne Franklin (California), Josh Herbster (Shippensburg), Karolin Kirchtag (IUP), Santino Marra (California), Matthew Muthler (Lock Haven), Ditte Petersen (Gannon), and Hannah Stanislawczyk (West Chester).

Kylie Anicic

Anicic was the champion in the 1500m, 5K, and 10K at the 2023 PSAC Championships and also posted NCAA provisional times in those events. She ran in both the 5K and 10K at the 2023 NCAA Division II Championships, and was also an All-Region honoree in all three distance events.

Casper was the National Champion in the shot put at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships and also earned USTFCCCA All-America honors in the discus. He won the shot put and discus events at the 2023 PSAC Outdoor Championships and was named the PSAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet.

Fedor played in 30 rounds during the 2022-23 season, carding an average of 74.47 with four top-10 finishes and two in the top-five. He tied for third place at the PSAC Men’s Golf Championships and earned a GCAA DII PING All-Atlantic Regional selection. He finished in the top-10 in every PSAC Championship he played in during his career, including winning the tournament in 2019.

Franklin was the National Champion in both the 100m and 200m at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships and recorded the fastest Division II time ever in the 100m (11.09) regardless of weather conditions during the finals of the NCAA Championships. She ranks second all-time on the Division II Performance List in the 200m (22.65). Franklin broke PSAC Championship records in the 100m (11.28) and 200m (22.65) and was named the Overall MVP and Outstanding Track Athlete of the meet.

Herbster earned NCAA All-America First Team honors in the hammer throw (seventh place with a school-record 62.23m) at the 2023 NCAA Division II Championships. He was also the hammer throw champion at the 2023 PSAC Championships, where he also finished fourth in the discus and seventh in the shot put.

Kirchtag was the PSAC individual singles champion and named All-PSAC West First Team in both singles and doubles, playing at the No. 1 spot in both for an IUP team that won its third consecutive PSAC title. Kirchtag, who went 22-8 in singles and 22-9 in doubles, also helped the Crimson Hawks advance to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

Marra hit .404 this spring, ranking third in the PSAC to become California’s first .400 hitter since the 2017 season. He had the third-most hits (76) in single-season school history, with an on-base percentage of .473 (sixth-highest in the conference), and ranked third in the PSAC with 111 total bases. He was a two-time PSAC West Athlete of the Week and added 44 RBIs, 13 doubles, and a slugging percentage of .590, all of which were team highs.

Muthler finished second overall in the decathlon at the 2023 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, scoring 3,325 points (the fifth-best total in Lock Haven program history.) He logged an 859-point run of 4:13.20 in the 1500m, the second-fastest time in Division II history for a 1,500-meter run that is part of a decathlon.

Petersen won the PSAC Women’s Golf Championship individual title by six strokes to help her team win its fourth consecutive PSAC team title and carried a scoring average of 78.81 in 2022-23. For the season, she collected two tournament wins, seven top-five finishes, and carded 16 rounds in the 70’s. She was also voted the 2022-23 PSAC Women’s Golf Athlete of the Year.
 
Hannah Stanislawczyk

Stanislawczyk was voted the PSAC East Athlete of the Year and helped her team advance to the Division II National Championship game before suffering its first loss of the season to finish 22-1 this spring. She led West Chester in goals (92), the second-highest mark in all of Division II. She scored at least three goals in 21 of 23 games and tallied 105 points (10th-most in Division II.) She also led the Golden Rams in draw controls (108) and added 41 caused turnovers and 62 ground balls, both the second-highest totals on the team.
