QUICK HITS FOR PSAC TEAMS, WEEK 5:


SETON HILL: In last Saturday’s 40-13 loss to IUP, the Griffins’ linebacker Ritchie McCormack picked up an IUP fumble and raced 37 yards for a touchdown to score SHU’s first points of the contest in the 4th quarter.

CALIFORNIA: Following a road victory over then-No. 4 Slippery Rock, the California (PA) football team climbed two positions to No. 6 in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 poll. Cal has been ranked in the AFCA Top 25 poll for 11-straight weeks dating back to late October of last year.

SLIPPERY ROCK: Slippery Rock has been tough to beat two weeks in a row. The Rock have not lost two games in a row since losing the PSAC title game and then losing in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs, both by one possession scores, in 2021.

GANNON: Tristen Kenan accounted for Gannon’s score on a 5-yard run. The sophomore running back finished with 68 yards on 16 carries. 

SHIPPENSBURG: Ship has the fourth-best passing offense in the conference with 246.8 yards per game through the air.

KUTZTOWN: Kutztown’s rushing offense is ranked first in the PSAC at 244.0 yards per game. The Golden Bears have rushed for 200+ yards in all four games this season and five straight dating back to last season – the first time that’s happened since 2016.

LOCK HAVEN: Defensively, linebacker Kuhron Walker and defensive back Markel Morgan each tallied seven tackles. Morgan and defensive back Troy Miller each tallied interceptions to keep LHU in the game against East Stroudsburg.

BLOOMSBURG: Nahzier Booker had a career-game for the Huskies with nine total stops, including a sack for 11 yards.

EDINBORO: Linebacker Daunte White was named the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Clarion. White finishedwith nine tackles, six solo, with 4.5 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks.

IUP: Devin Whitlock caught a career-high 11 passes for 130 yards. 

SHEPHERD: Graduate student quarterback Michael Hardyway completed 20-of-32 passes for 189 yards, while Ezra Bagent was 7-of-14 for 67 yards.

MILLERSVILLE: The bright spot for Millersville was Mekhi Ashby’s 87 yards on 15 carries.

EAST STROUDSBURG: Redshirt senior quarterback Sean McTaggart led a 90-yard drive for the go-ahead touchdown with less than two minutes left for a 24-21 win in the PSAC East football opener for both schools on Saturday afternoon at Hubert Jack Stadium.

WEST CHESTER: West Chester’s defense picked off Millersville’s two quarterbacks four times on the afternoon. Jamir Reyes had two picks himself.
