PSAC Field Hockey Athletes of the Week - 7

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Field Hockey Athletes of the Week. Kutztown's Erin Gonzalez was selected as Athlete of the Week and Bloomsburg's Maura Greek was recognized as the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Gonzalez had an important week for No. 1 Kutztown and herself, individually. Gonzalez assisted on the game's opening goal in a 3-1 victory over No. 5 West Chester last Tuesday night. The captain then had an historic day for her career in a 7-0 win against Slippery Rock on senior day Saturday. Gonzalez netted a career-best four goals and eclipsed the 100 point mark for her career.

Greek had a standout performance in net for the Huskies this past week, notching a combined 17 saves against nationally-ranked teams East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg. The senior netminder blanked the No. 2-ranked Shippensburg Raiders with nine saves while posting four stops in the shootout as the Huskies won 1-0 on Saturday. In Bloomsburg's 3-2, double overtime loss to No. 4 East Stroudsburg on Wednesday, Greek recorded eight saves on 11 shots. Greek currently sits atop the NCAA leaderboard in shutouts with eight. She is also fourth in the nation in save percentage (.756).
