Kutztown leads 2025-26 Dixon Trophy standings after PSAC fall championships

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – At the conclusion of all eight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference fall championships, Kutztown University is in first place in the 2025-26 Dixon Trophy standings.

The Dixon Trophy is awarded at the end of each academic year to the league’s most successful program based on conference playoff and/or regular-season finishes. Standings are compiled based on average score for all PSAC championship sports each school sponsors. Equal to its total membership, each conference sport champion is awarded 17 points and a descending point value is given for respective place finishes. The second-through-last-place values vary depending on the number of teams that sponsor the sport.

Kutztown has an overall average of 13.92 after competing in six fall championships. On the women’s side, the Golden Bears were soccer and field hockey runners-up. For the men, football claimed the PSAC Championship while cross country finished third. The last time Kutztown won the Dixon Trophy was in 2005-06.

East Stroudsburg is currently second in the standings with an overall average of 12.50. The Warriors brought home two PSAC titles this fall in women’s cross country and women’s volleyball. Additionally, ESU had excellent finishes in field hockey (semifinalist) and men’s cross country (runner-up).

West Chester (12.38 points), IUP (11.00), and Gannon (10.93) round out the top five of the current standings.

Kutztown leads all men’s sports with an average of 16.00. For women's sports, East Stroudsburg leads with a 13.13 overall average.

Introduced in the 1995-96 academic year, the award is named in honor of F. Eugene Dixon, Jr., former chairman of Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education's Board of Governors. Since then, nine PSAC institutions have claimed the Dixon Trophy. Shippensburg leads the conference with eight victories, followed by West Chester’s five. Lock Haven, Bloomsburg, and Gannon have three titles apiece, while California and Slippery Rock follow with two victories. Kutztown and Millersville have each won once.

The next update of the Dixon Trophy standings will be released following the conclusion of the PSAC’s winter championship season in early March.
