LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its Major Award winners for the 2024-25 Women’s Swimming season. The top three finishers in each event at the PSAC Championships were recognized as All-Conference performers. A complete list of those honorees is linked above.
The Major Awards are determined by a vote of the conference’s head coaches.
Women's Swimming Athlete of the Year: Kasha Stokes, IUP
Women's Swimming Freshman of the Year: Gem Crittenden, IUP
Women's Swimming Coach of the Year: Steve Mazurek, West Chester
IUP’s Kasha Stokes was named PSAC Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Year after earning a pair of Honorable Mention All-America honors at the NCAA meet – in both the 200 backstroke (where she earned a 10
th-place finish) and the 100 backstroke (where she finished 14
th.) She set new PSAC records in both events – a new all-time PSAC record in the 200 backstroke (time of 1:58.70) as well as the PSAC Championship record in the 100 back (54.82). She was champion at the PSAC meet in those two events as well as part of the Crimson Hawks’ champion 200 and 400 medley relay teams. She also finished 13
th in the 1,000 freestyle to earn 78 individual points at the 2025 PSAC meet.
Gem Crittenden, also from IUP, was selected as Freshman of the Year. She was a two-time NCAA championship qualifier in her debut season (in both the 400 IM, where she finished 28
th, and the 200 fly, where she placed 17
th.) She was voted the 2025 PSAC Championships’ Most Outstanding Swimmer after taking home conference titles in the 400 IM and 200 fly as well as the IUP champ 200 and 400 medley relay squads. She scored 114 total points at the PSAC meet thanks to additional fifth-place finishes in the 100 fly and 200 IM.
Steve Mazurek of West Chester was tabbed for his fourth consecutive and sixth career PSAC Women’s Swimming Coach of the Year honor. This year, he guided the Golden Rams women’s swim team to their 22
nd PSAC Championship title and 18
th in 19 seasons. The women’s team topped the team standings with 1,329 points and finished nearly 300 points clear of the field.
