Bloomsburg, Gannon atop 2025 PSAC Men's Soccer Preseason Polls

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Bloomsburg and Gannon men’s soccer teams were selected as preseason favorites in the 2025 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Preseason Polls, as voted on by the league’s coaches.
 
Eastern Division
 
The defending PSAC Men’s Soccer Champions, the Bloomsburg Huskies were voted No. 1 in the 2025 PSAC East Division Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll. The team accumulated a record of 15-4-2 (7-2-1 PSAC) under 2024 PSAC East Division Coach of the Year Mark Bassett. While the team loses 2024 PSAC East Defensive Player of the Year Patrick Walsh, they return First Team All-Conference selections Kody Besser and Owen Hollobaugh. Besser finished the 2024 season with four goals and five assists while Hollobaugh had five goals and two assists.
 
Close behind in the No. 2 spot is Millersville, which earned two first-place votes and finished 2024 with a 9-6-3 record (6-2-2 PSAC). The Marauders will rely on Roy Parkyn, a 2024 PSAC First Team All-Conference midfielder. Parkyn played in 18 games last season and finished with three goals and three assists.
 
East Stroudsburg, the No. 3 team in the East, compiled an 8-4-5 record (4-3-3 PSAC) in 2024 and is anchored by the 2024 PSAC Eastern Division Freshman of the Year Drew Nyce. The Warriors also return two Second Team All-Conference selections, Hunter Stites and Benny Goodrich. Stites finished the 2024 season with one goal and two assists while Goodrich accumulated two goals. 
 
No. 4 West Chester features returning 2024 PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Year Peter Tichy and First Team All-Conference forward Maksym Komperda. No. 5 Shepherd and No. 6 Shippensburg complete the remainder of the 2025 East poll.
 
Western Division
 
For the fourth straight year, Gannon University was voted No. 1 in the 2025 PSAC West Division Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll. Last year the Golden Knights went 14-4-3 overall and 7-0-3 in conference play. They received three 2024 PSAC West Division Postseason Awards, including Coach of the Year Billy Colton, Defensive Player of the Year Pau Ferrer, and Athlete of the Year Sverre Orten. All three will return to help the Golden Knights this season. Orten finished last season with the most points (32) and assists (14) in the conference while Ferrer helped the Golden Knights with eight assists. First Team All-Conference nominee Andre Moraes also returns to help Gannon in their 2025 season.
 
Seton Hill was named the No. 2 team in the West’s Preseason Poll. They finished with a 10-5-4 record (5-2-3 PSAC) in 2024 to finish third in the PSAC West. The Griffins bring back the 2024 PSAC West Division Freshman of the Year Nils Heinrich and 2024 First Team All-Conference midfielder Julian Marker. Heinrich finished his freshman season with eight goals and nine assists in route to his Freshman of the Year honor.
 
No. 3 team Slippery Rock returns one of their Second Team All-Conference selections Colton Spence, who found the back of the net two times in 2024. The Rock finished last season with a 9-4-5 record (5-2-3 PSAC) to land second in the rankings of the PSAC West.
 
No. 4 Lock Haven finished 2024 with a conference record of 5-5, good for fourth in the Western Division. Five of their players selected for the Western Division All-Conference teams return this year, including First Team member Danny Ogan who scored two goals last season for the Bald Eagles.  
 
California is No. 5 and Pitt-Johnstown is No. 6 to round out the rest of the 2025 West poll.
 
The 2025 PSAC men’s soccer season kicks off in full on Thursday, Sept. 4.
