PSAC Football Athletes of the Week - Week 0

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its first set of Football Athletes of the Week for Week 0 of the 2026 season, combining the Eastern and Western Divisions for just single conference-wide awards for the first week of competition. Slippery Rock earned a pair of honorees, with Vincent Berardi named the Offensive Athlete of the Week and Brett Kwoka the Defensive Athlete of the Week. East Stroudsburg's Ty Quintois rounds out the trio and was chosen as the Special Teams Athlete of the Week.

Berardi led the Slippery Rock offense with 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns in a 45-43 double OT comeback win over No. 12 Minnesota Duluth. He caught a 54-yard TD on the first play from scrimmage and caught a game-tying TD in the first overtime session to force a second OT, where SRU won the game. He pulled down four catches for career-highs of 95 yards and two TD.

Kwoka recorded a solo strip sack with under 4 minutes to play that was recovered and returned 65 yards for an SRU touchdown to flip the game and give SRU a chance to erase a 16-point deficit in the final seven minutes of the fourth quarter of a 45-43 double OT win over Minnesota Duluth. SRU had no timeouts left when Kwoka forced the fumble, but was able to erase a 10-point lead in the final four minutes after the return TD. He finished the night with eight total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and the game-changing forced fumble.

Quintois started his senior season perfectly on the road in ESU's 27-20 win over Seton Hill, going 2-2 on his field goal attempts. The 2025 AFCA Second Team All-American made a chip-shot 23-yard field goal in his first attempt, then nailed a 55-yard field goal with room to spare later in the third quarter. The second make of the night was 13-yards longer than Quintois' previous long, and goes down as the second-longest field goal in program history.
