Meghan McGrath scored the only goal of the game to propel The Rock to victory over hosting Kutztown in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoff championship game.
McGrath, who was named the championship most valuable player, led the Rock (13-5-3) to its second PSAC Championship in the last three years.
SRU’s only corner kick led to the only goal of the contest. Julie Lineman’s corner kick was cleared by Kutztown’s Ann Fink to midfield. The Rock’s Emily Lamp, however, sent the ball back into KU’s zone between a pair of Golden Bear defenders. There to take the pass was McGrath, who angled her shot from the left side, past a sliding KU goalkeeper and into the right side of the goal at the 47:24 mark.
Freshman goalie Jen McCormick had four saves en route to recording her 12th shutout of the season. Kutztown keeper Nicole Rodwellerhad seven stops.
The Golden Bears, who came up empty on three golden scoring opportunities in the first half, had just one solid shot at the goal after falling behind. Jeannine Bria’s direct kick with under 10 minutes to play caught the top of the crossbar and went out of bounds.
Sunday's win was the third straight by SRU, which claimed its second PSAC title in three seasons.
Kutztown (14-7-1) lost in the PSAC Championship game for the second-straight year after falling at Indiana (PA), 3-2, last season.
