Bloomsburg University’s Kimberly Boyce scored the game-winning goal with 14:34 remaining in the game to give the Lady Huskies a 2-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship Game victory over Lock Haven University. Championship game MVP Amber Hess broke free on the play, carrying the ball inside the Lock Haven circle and provided the assist for Boyce.
Hess started the scoring on the day, hitting paydirt at 28:59 showing on the clock, as Pam Gauss scored on an assist from Mary Ann Simkewicz.
Lock Haven nearly tied the game following a penalty corner shot with just under three minutes remaining. However, both of the Lday Eagle’s shots were rejected, the first by a Bloom post player and the second by Lady Huskie goalkeeper Bethany Canner. Canner recorded six saves on the day.
Selection for teams who qualify for the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship Game will be made via conference call on Sunday night. The championship game will be played on Sunday, November 9 at a site and time to be determined.
