2006 PSAC Men's Golf Championship

The West Chester men's golf team captured the 2006 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Golf Team Championship, edging out IUP by two strokes in the 36-hole tournament.  The Golden Rams totaled 603, shooting a 15-over par 303 for the first day and 12-over par 300 in the final round.

IUP started the final round of the tournament four strokes behind West Chester at 307 and posted 298 in the final round for a final score of 605.

Millersville (611) and Clarion (612) finished third and fourth respectively, while the California men (619) finished fifth. 

West Chester's Jared Miller won the individual title, registering a two-day total of 145 (71-74) and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.  In the long drive competition, Clarion's Tom Will registered the top distance at 342 yards.  The lowest round of the tournament was posted in the final round by California's women's team member Simone De Souza (69).

The 2006 championship was held at the
Wren Dale Golf Club in Hummelstown, Pa.  Wren Dale's par 72 course played at 7009 yards for the men, while the women tee off at approximately 81 percent of the men's tees.

The PSAC Golf Championship is unique in that it is the only conference championship in which men's and women's teams compete for the same title.  The league consists of men's teams from California (Pa.), Clarion, Indiana (Pa.), Millersville and West Chester, and women's teams from California, Kutztown and West Chester.
