QUICK HITS

KUTZTOWN: Ranked No. 3 in the AFCA poll (No. 4 on D2Football.com), the Golden Bears are 5-0 after a 59-7 win at Shippensburg, their largest margin of the season. WR Noah Micks, the PSAC East Special Teams Athlete of the Week, returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown.

IUP: Ranked No. 10 in the AFCA poll (No. 13 on D2Football.com), IUP improved to 5-0 with a 46-44 double-overtime win at Edinboro. QB Mason Maggs, the PSAC West Offensive Athlete of the Week, threw for a career-high 369 yards and four touchdowns.

SLIPPERY ROCK: At No. 8 in the AFCA poll (No. 9 on D2Football.com), the Rock are 5-0 after a 49-10 win over Gannon. Slippery Rock has scored at least 41 points in every game and averages 52.8 points per game.

CLARION: The Golden Eagles (3-2, 1-1 PSAC West) lost 38-35 at Lock Haven on Saturday. QB Jase Ferguson leads the PSAC with 1,375 passing yards.

BLOOMSBURG: The Huskies (4-1, 1-0 PSAC East) have won three straight after a 42-10 win over Lackawanna and allow 18.0 points per game. DL Ian Donohue leads the PSAC with 10.0 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.

EAST STROUDSBURG: RB Ajani Walker, the PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week, ran for 154 yards on 15 carries in a 27-13 win over West Chester. ESU (4-1, 1-0 PSAC East) has won two straight, including a 51-0 shutout of Lackawanna.

WEST CHESTER: The Golden Rams (3-2, 1-1 PSAC East) fell 27-13 at East Stroudsburg on Saturday after a 17-16 win over Millersville. Their other loss was a 27-21 overtime defeat to IUP.

SHEPHERD: The Rams (4-1, 1-1 PSAC East) bounced back from their loss at Kutztown with a 35-7 win over Millersville. DB Reggie Snowden, the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week, had three tackles and two interceptions.

LOCK HAVEN: Lock Haven (3-2) is 2-0 in PSAC West play after a 38-35 Homecoming win over Clarion. DB Troy Miller, the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week, had six tackles, an interception and three pass breakups.

CALIFORNIA: The Vulcans (2-3, 0-2 PSAC West) were shut out 29-0 at Seton Hill and have lost three in a row. WR Kenny Lewis IV has 30 catches for 380 yards and six touchdowns.

EDINBORO: K Nate Baker, the PSAC West Special Teams Athlete of the Week, kicked a 51-yard field goal as time expired in regulation to force overtime against IUP, but the Fighting Scots (2-3) lost 46-44 in two overtimes.

SETON HILL: The Griffins (2-3, 1-1 PSAC West) shut out California 29-0, their largest margin of victory this season. LB Lucas Simone leads the PSAC with 49 tackles and LB Keith Bourque ranks fifth with 45.

GANNON: The Golden Knights (0-5, 0-2 PSAC West) lost 49-10 at Slippery Rock and have dropped 11 straight since a 38-35 win vs. The Rock last October. Their closest game this season was a 33-27 overtime loss to Bloomsburg.

SHIPPENSBURG: The Raiders (1-4, 0-2 PSAC East) lost 59-7 at Kutztown, their third straight defeat. Before Saturday, Shippensburg's three losses had come by a combined 12 points.

MILLERSVILLE: Millersville (0-5, 0-2 PSAC East) fell 35-7 at Shepherd and has lost 16 straight dating to last season. LB Bryce Beutler ranks second in the PSAC with 48 tackles.

KUTZTOWN HOLDS AT NO. 3

Kutztown (5-0) is No. 3 in the AFCA poll (704 points), unchanged from the previous poll, and No. 4 on D2Football.com. The Golden Bears were No. 3 in the final 2025 AFCA poll, the highest final ranking in program history.

ROCK STEADY, HAWKS SLIP ONE SPOT

Slippery Rock (5-0) remains No. 8 in the AFCA poll and No. 9 on D2Football.com. IUP (5-0) moved back one spot to No. 10 in the AFCA poll, from No. 9, after a 46-44 double-overtime win at Edinboro, and holds at No. 13 on D2Football.com.

OTHER NOTES AND VOTES

Shepherd received 14 votes in the AFCA poll, and West Liberty, Seton Hill's Sept. 5 opponent, received nine. Davenport (5-0), which beat Gannon 32-20 in the Golden Knights' season opener, is No. 11 in the AFCA poll and No. 14 on D2Football.com.

Lackawanna Game Notes
A NEW CHAPTER

Lackawanna is in the process of becoming the PSAC's 18th member and is scheduled to face the entire PSAC Eastern Division in 2026. The Falcons (0-5), who play under first-year head coach Mark Ross at PENFED Field at Scranton Memorial Stadium, opened with a 20-12 loss at Monroe, then lost 20-10 to Seton Hill, 59-13 to Clarion, 51-0 at East Stroudsburg and 42-10 to Bloomsburg.

THE SCORING COLUMN

Lackawanna has scored 45 points in five games (9.0 per game) and allowed 192 (38.4). Its two closest games were the 20-12 loss at Monroe on Sept. 4 and the 20-10 loss to Seton Hill on Sept. 12.

FALCON LEADERS

Quarterback David Naniewicz has completed 61 of 114 passes for 526 yards and two touchdowns. Jalen Fletcher leads the ground game with 209 yards on 66 carries and three touchdowns, Keaon Jenkins has 14 receptions for 216 yards and a touchdown, and Brodie Daugherty leads the defense with 29 tackles and one sack.

THE ROAD AHEAD

Saturday is Lackawanna's third road game of 2026, after losses at Monroe and East Stroudsburg. The Falcons' schedule then continues Oct. 17 at West Chester, Oct. 24 vs. Shippensburg, Oct. 31 vs. Millersville, Nov. 7 at Shepherd and Nov. 14 at Slippery Rock.

Kutztown Game Notes
NO. 3 AND UNBEATEN

Three-time defending PSAC champion Kutztown (5-0, 2-0 PSAC East) is No. 3 in the AFCA poll and No. 4 on D2Football.com. The Golden Bears beat Assumption 56-35, Clarion 45-14, Lock Haven 35-20 and Shepherd 28-18 before routing Shippensburg 59-7 on Saturday.

SCORING MARGINS

Kutztown has scored 223 points through five games (44.6 per game) and allowed 94 (18.8). The 52-point win at Shippensburg was its largest margin of the season, and every Kutztown win has come by at least 10 points.

MICKS' KICKOFF RETURN

Sophomore wide receiver Noah Micks earned PSAC East Special Teams Athlete of the Week honors after returning a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown against Shippensburg, Kutztown's first kick return touchdown since 2025. Running back Craig Miller was the PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week in Week 4.

HOME COOKING

Kutztown returns to University Field at Andre Reed Stadium after a road win at Shippensburg. The Golden Bears are 2-0 at home in 2026, beating Clarion 45-14 and Shepherd 28-18, and Saturday is the third home game of the season. Kutztown has not lost a non-playoff home game since a 28-9 loss to West Chester on Nov. 5, 2022, a streak of 19 straight wins, and is 23-2 at home in that span (both losses in the NCAA playoffs).

THREE STRAIGHT SETBACKS

Shippensburg (1-4, 0-2 PSAC East) has lost three in a row, falling 28-26 to IUP, 33-31 at Bloomsburg and 59-7 at Kutztown. The Raiders' lone win, under first-year head coach Drew Gallardy, was a 24-14 victory at West Virginia Wesleyan on Sept. 10.

CLOSE CALLS

Three of Shippensburg's four losses have come by eight points or fewer: 24-16 to Lock Haven, 28-26 to IUP and 33-31 at Bloomsburg, the last two by two points each. The Raiders have scored 104 points (20.8 per game) and allowed 158 (31.6).

MYERS AND SAUVE

Linebacker Nate Myers has 46 tackles, tied for third in the PSAC, and 7.5 tackles for loss, third in the league. Alex Sauve has 40 tackles and 6.0 tackles for loss. Sauve was named PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week in Week 2.

ADEGUNLE'S TARGETS

Wide receiver Chris Adegunle leads the PSAC with 471 receiving yards on 36 catches. Quarterback Roman Jensen has thrown for 1,128 yards, fifth in the league.

Millersville Game Notes
STILL SEEKING A FIRST WIN

Millersville (0-5, 0-2 PSAC East) is looking for its first victory under first-year head coach Drew Folmar. The Marauders went 0-11 in 2025, the program's first winless season since 1953, and have lost 16 consecutive games dating to last season.

TWO CLOSE CALLS

Millersville's closest games were a 24-21 loss at Glenville State on Sept. 3 and a 17-16 loss at West Chester on Sept. 26, a combined margin of four points. The Marauders have been outscored 186-71 overall, including 35-7 at Shepherd on Saturday.

ASHBY AND BEUTLER

Running back Mekhi Ashby has 304 rushing yards (60.8 per game) and linebacker Bryce Beutler, a 2025 All-PSAC East selection who made 103 tackles last season, has 48 tackles, second in the PSAC.

HOME FIELD

DOUBLE-OVERTIME HEARTBREAK

Edinboro (2-3, 0-2 PSAC West) lost 46-44 in two overtimes at home to IUP on Saturday. Sophomore kicker Nate Baker, the PSAC West Special Teams Athlete of the Week, tied the game with a 51-yard field goal as time expired in regulation, the fourth-longest in program history.

THREE STRAIGHT LOSSES

The Fighting Scots have lost three in a row to West Chester (44-24), Clarion (30-19) and IUP (46-44), after opening 2-0 with a 38-36 win over Ohio Dominican in three overtimes and a 9-6 win at Bloomsburg.

CLOSE GAMES

Three of Edinboro's five games have gone to overtime or been decided by three points: a 38-36 triple-overtime win over Ohio Dominican, a 9-6 win over Bloomsburg and a 46-44 double-overtime loss to IUP. The Fighting Scots shared the PSAC West regular-season title in 2025 (7-4, 5-1).

SCORING

Edinboro has scored 134 points through five games (26.8 per game) and allowed 162 (32.4). Wide receiver Jeremiah Neeley has 28 catches for 467 yards and four touchdowns, second in the PSAC in receiving yards, and quarterback Nico Marchitelli has thrown for 1,071 yards.

SHUT OUT AT SETON HILL

California (2-3, 0-2 PSAC West) was held scoreless in a 29-0 loss at Seton Hill on Saturday, its third straight defeat after 28-7 at Shepherd and 41-26 to Slippery Rock, its first three-game skid since 2003. It was California's first shutout since 2003, ending a streak of 247 games with a score, and the Vulcans managed just 22 yards of offense. Seton Hill has beaten California in back-to-back meetings after the Vulcans won the previous 12.

STRONG START

The Vulcans opened 2-0 with a 49-24 win over Charleston and a 40-17 win at Millersville. California went 9-4 in 2025 and reached the second round of the NCAA Playoffs.

LEWIS AND GIBSON

Wide receiver Kenny Lewis IV has 30 catches for 380 yards and six touchdowns, and quarterback Eric Gibson Jr., the PSAC West Offensive Athlete of the Week in Week 1, has thrown for 1,028 yards and nine touchdowns.

SCORING

California has scored 122 points through five games (24.4 per game) and allowed 139 (27.8). Head coach Gary Dunn is in his 11th season. Saturday is the Vulcans' third home game of 2026.

Gannon (0-5, 0-2 PSAC West) is still looking for its first win in 2026 and has lost 11 straight, dating to a 38-35 home win over Slippery Rock last October. The Golden Knights fell 49-10 at The Rock on Saturday.

COMING OFF A BREAKTHROUGH

Lock Haven won six games in 2025 under first-year head coach Joe Battaglia, its first winning season since 1981. Battaglia is now in his second season, and the Bald Eagles are playing their first year in the PSAC West.

West Chester (3-2, 1-1 PSAC East) fell 27-13 at East Stroudsburg on Saturday after a 17-16 win over Millersville. Its other loss was a 27-21 overtime defeat to IUP on Sept. 12.
