PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP - Sunday, November 6

ERIE, Pa. --- The Mercyhurst men’s soccer team defeated Millersville, 2-1, in the PSAC Men’s Soccer Championship Match Sunday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field in Erie, Pa.
 
The Lakers (15-4-1) took a 1-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest when Thom Derks converted on a penalty kick.
 
Mercyhurst’s Mark Roche, the tournament MVP, doubled the lead with a header at the 51:18 mark while Connor Wilkinson garnered the assist.
 
The Marauders (12-6-2) cut the deficit in half following a Devin Rediker goal with 36:15 remaining in regulation.
 
The Lakers’ Alex Brems kept the score at 2-1 with a save with 57 seconds left.
 
Mercyhurst won its fourth conference championship and first since 2014.
 
The NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Tournament selection show is Monday, November 7 at 6:30 p.m.

CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. ---
The 2016 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship field has been set following the conclusion of regular season play on Saturday, the league announced.
 
Six teams will battle for the PSAC Men’s Soccer title while the No. 1 and No. 2 seed earned first-round byes.
 
Mercyhurst earned the No. 1 seed after posting a 9-1 mark in conference play and will host the tournament and play in a semifinal on Friday. The Lakers will face the winner of Seton Hill/California.
 
West Chester earned a first-round bye and claimed the No. 2 seed after posting an 8-1-2 mark in PSAC action. The Golden Rams will battle the winner of Gannon/Millersville Friday in a semifinal.
 
Gannon jumped up and swiped the No. 3 seed following a double overtime win Saturday and will host Millersville Tuesday at 6 p.m.
 
Seton Hill claimed the No. 4 seed after amassing 21 points and hosts California Tuesday at 1 p.m.
 
California earned the No. 5 seed while Millersville claimed the No. 6 seed.
