DAY TWO RECAP
EDINBORO, Pa. --- The Shippensburg Raiders swept the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Mike Zafirovski Dome Sunday afternoon in Edinboro, Pa.
SHIP’s men won by the skin of their teeth, fending off Slippery Rock by a 143 – 141.5 score. It marks the seventh consecutive title for SU and 10th overall.
The 1.5-point margin of victory is the closest since 2010 when Lock Haven held off East Stroudsburg by 0.5 points.
On the women’s side, the Raiders defeated Bloomsburg by a slim four-point margin, 115-111. SU won its first title since 2015 and seventh overall.
In the women’s mile, California’s Summer Hill set a meet record with a winning time of 4:52.68. The junior went on to win the women’s 800-meter run in a time of 2:14.89 and was named Women’s Track MVP.
Fellow Vulcan Julie Friend was named the Women’s Overall MVP.
On the men’s side, SRU’s Ryan Thompson claimed the win with a time of 4:11.40 and was named the Men’s Overall MVP.
West Chester’s Justus Norman was named the Men’s Field MVP.
East Stroudsburg’s Aspen Gaita set a PSAC record in the 60-meter hurdles, only needing 8.54 seconds to accomplish the feat.
Fellow Warrior Steven Morgan won the men’s 60-meter hurdles in 8.06.
ESU’s Khai Samuels grabbed the men’s 800-meter run title with a time of 1:53.73.
SU junior Alec Rideout won the men’s shot put and set a facility record with a heave of 17.66 meters.
Bloomsburg sophomore Kirsten O’Malley won the women’s 400-meter dash with a blistering time of 57.17 seconds.
Seton Hill sophomore Dontay Jacobs claimed the men’s crown in the 400 dash with a time of 49.07.
Fellow Griffin Gabrielle Ravotto won the women’s 60-meter dash in 7.67.
West Chester junior DeShaun Pickett earned the win in the men’s 60 dash with a time of 6.89.
SU’s Sarah Hunt and Abby Wagner finished first and second in the women’s triple jump with distances of 12.03 and 11.95 meters, respectively.
SRU senior Kennedy Evans earned the top spot in the women’s 200-meter dash with a time of 25.16 seconds.
Cal sophomore Jae’Len Means took home the men’s 200 dash crown after using a time of 21.75.
BU junior Hannah Boudreau won the women’s 3000-meter run in 10:02.09.
Lock Haven junior Addison Monroe won the men’s 3000 in an entertaining finish, turning in a time of 8:33.10. Monroe would later be named the Men’s Track MVP. IUP’s Greg Beaudette finished second only .02 seconds behind.
SU’s Tra-C Davis cleared 2.07 meters on his way to the men’s high jump title.
Fellow Raider Tamara Ovejera set a facility record in the women’s shot put with a heave of 14.64 meters.
Kutztown’s McKenzie Fagan won the high jump after clearing a height of 1.71 meters.
SRU senior Adam Leeper fittingly won the triple jump with a leap of 14.71 meters.
West Chester’s Colin Vannicolo won the men’s heptathlon with 4979 points. SU’s Danny Meyer was second with 4734.
SRU swept the 4x400 relays. The women turned in a time of 3:55.63 while the men needed only 3:19.05 to earn the win.
The NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships will take place March 9-11 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.

DAY ONE RECAP
EDINBORO, Pa. --- Slippery Rock’s men and Shippensburg’s women lead after day one of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Mike Zafirovski Dome in Edinboro, Pa.
SRU holds a slim two-point advantage over Shippensburg while Lock Haven currently sits third with 40 points.
SHIP’s women hold a 14-point cushion over SRU while Bloomsburg is third with 32 points.
SRU senior Sabrina Anderson won the pentathlon with 3252 points. Anderson turned in a time of 9.37 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles before clearing 1.63 meters in the high jump. She needed 2:36.34 to complete the 800-meter run. Anderson turned in a mark of 9.81 meters in the shot put and 4.83 meters in the long jump.
East Stroudsburg’s Aspen Gaita set a facility record during her prelim run in the 60-meter hurdles after turning in a time of 8.63 seconds.
California’s quartet of Julie Friend, Summer Hill, Jaclyn Reinbold and Emilia Ricciuti won the women’s distance medley in 11:54.88.
SU’s men claimed the men’s distance medley in 10:14.20. Harrison Schettler, Calvin Dennis, Timmy Usher and Dominic Stroh ran legs for the Raiders.
SRU’s Jordan Pacheco won the men’s pole vault after clearing 4.91 meters. IUP’s DJ Horton accomplished the same feat, however, Pacheco claimed gold after needing only one attempt to clear 4.81.
SRU’s Courtney McQuaide won the women’s pole vault with a height of 3.77 meters.
SU’s Sarah Hunt notched a win in the women’s long jump following a distance of 5.91 meters.
Teammate Casey Norton was victorious in the women’s 5000 when she turned in a time of 17:10.74. She bested her competition by 24 seconds.
Lock Haven junior Addison Monroe won the men’s 5000 in 14:45.56.
Fellow Bald Eagle Adrienne Puglia paced the field in the weight throw with a distance of 17.15 meters.
SU’s Caleb Bartlett won the men’s weight throw after a heave of 18.41 meters.
West Chester’s quartet of Emily Dusellier, Laura Slavich, Allison Lewis and Kate Woolam claimed gold in the 4x800 relay in 9:24.80.
In the men’s 4x800, IUP turned in the best time (7:51.79) behind the efforts of Derek Noll, Justin Jones, Dylan Ruefle and Austin Cooper.
WCU’s Justus Norman capped the evening off with a victory in the men’s long jump with a distance of 7.12 meters.
Action begins Sunday at 10:30 a.m. with the men’s heptathlon 60-meter hurdles.

CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place February 25-26 in Edinboro, Pa.
The event will take place at the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Dome and will cost $10 daily for adults and $5 for students.
Events begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with the women’s pentathlon 60-meter hurdles, women’s long jump and men’s weight throw. Action begins Sunday at 10:30 a.m. with the men’s heptathlon 60-meter hurdles. The awards ceremony will start at approximately 3:15 p.m. Sunday.
MEN’S PREVIEW
Shippensburg seeks its seventh consecutive title after capturing the 2016 crown with 212 points. Overall, the Raiders have won nine indoor titles while Lock Haven has claimed five and Slippery Rock has one.
California sophomore Jae’Len Means paces the conference in the 60- and 200-meter dash with times of 6.91 and 21.50 seconds, respectively.
Teammate Joe Vedilago leads the PSAC in the 400-meter dash after posting a time of 48.81 last weekend at the Kent State Tune-Up.
IUP’s Austin Cooper sits atop the standings in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.80.
SRU’s Ryan Thompson paces the league in the mile with a time of 4:05.72 and currently sits 13th in the nation. The senior holds the top time in the 3000-meter run (8:27.92).
LHU’s Addison Monroe is 24th in the nation and first in the PSAC in the 5000-meter run with a time of 14:34.13.
East Stroudsburg senior Steven Morgan looks to improve on his NCAA DII Provisional mark in the 60-meter hurdles after he posted a time of 8.06 seconds at the 2017 Armory Track Invitational.

SRU’s Caleb Smithco used a distance of 14.74 meters to take the conference lead in the triple jump at the Edinboro Invitational last weekend.

WOMEN’S PREVIEW
Slippery Rock claimed the 2016 crown with 135 points and seeks its third title in four years.
Shippensburg leads all schools with six team titles while SRU has five. Kutztown has won the event three times while Lock Haven has claimed it twice.
Seton Hill sophomore Gabrielle Ravotto leads the PSAC in the 60-meter dash with a solid time of 7.73 seconds.
Edinboro’s Lisa Kossmann needed only 25.23 to complete the 200-meter dash and grab the best time in the league.
Bloomsburg sophomore Kirsten O’Malley is the only PSAC member to have a DII Provisional mark in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.54.
West Chester’s Emily Dusellier holds the top slot in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.34.
California junior Summer Hill is currently 13th in the nation in the mile with a time of 4:52.63 while pacing the PSAC. Fellow Vulcan Julie Friend paces the league in the 3000- and 5000-meter run times of 9:47.66 and 16:45.93, respectively. In the 3000, she is 22nd in the nation while sitting eighth in the 5000.
East Stroudsburg’s Aspen Gaita is one of four PSAC athletes to have a DII Provisional time in the 60-meter hurdles after turning a time of 8.59 seconds. She currently leads the league in the high jump with a mark of 1.69 meters and in the pentathlon with 3701 points. The Warriors boast the best time in the 4x800 relay with a time of 9:44.45.
Slippery Rock paces the league in the 4x400 relay while Cal boasts the league’s best time in the distance medley.
SRU’s Courtney McQuaide cleared 3.71 meters in the pole vault to take the conference lead and is tied for 18th in the nation.
