DAY TWO RECAP: SHIPPENSBURG WINS SIXTH STRAIGHT MEN'S TITLE AND SLIPPERY ROCK WINS SECOND WOMEN'S CROWN IN THREE YEARS
Edinboro, Pa. - Shippensburg won the PSAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship for the sixth straight time on Sunday, while Slippery Rock won the PSAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship for the second time in three years.
The final standings for the men saw Shippensburg on top with 212 points. Slippery Rock claimed second, while East Stroudsburg, Lock Haven, and IUP rounded out the top five. Shippensburg won all three major awards as Kieran Sutton was named the Most Outstanding Track Athlete, LeQuan Chapman was named the Most Outstanding Field Athlete, and Grant Smith was named the Overall Most Valuable Athlete.
Sutton won the mile with a time of 4:20.91. Sutton had the fastest mile in the PSAC this year at 4:12.07.
Sutton also won the 3000m in 8:30.66 after coming in as the top-seed.
Kutztown’s Anthony Bullaro hit the NCAA provisional mark exactly, setting a Kutztown school record with a time of 8.27 in the 60m hurdles.
Seton Hill’s Dontay Jacobs ran the fastest 400m time in the PSAC during the season and won the conference crown in the event as just a freshman, running a time of 48.94.
IUP’s Julius Rivera matched his season-best in the 60m, winning gold with a time of 6.80. Rivera also won the 60m last year for California.
For the third straight year, Chapman of Shippensburg won the triple jump. This year, he had a mark of 15.09m. Chapman won the long jump on Saturday.
Mansfield’s Quashaun Willis took first in the 800m, running the time of 1:55.95 in the second heat.
Shippensburg’s Andrew Adighibe improved upon a previous NCAA provisional mark during the year and finished with a time of 21.54 to win the 200m dash.
Slippery Rock’s Noah Bostick is now a two-time heptathlon champion as just a sophomore, winning the event with 5,014 points.
Smith of Shippensburg had been dominant in shot put all season, winning PSAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on four occasions, and that continued on Sunday when he won the shot put title with a throw of 17.65m.
Will Berry from East Stroudsburg won a dramatic high jump final and was the only one of four remaining finalists to clear 2.08m.
Slippery Rock won the 4x400m with the team of Jacob VanHouten, Collin Darby, Monte Chapman, and James Chandler finishing in 3:17.83.
For the women, Slippery Rock won with 135 points, with Shippensburg falling just 18 points shy at 117. Edinboro, Bloomsburg, and California rounded out the top five. Slippery Rock’s Jasmine Bailey was named the Most Outstanding Track Athlete, Bloomsburg’s Kaylee Caruso was named the Most Outstanding Field Athlete, and Slippery Rock’s Sabrina Anderson was named the Overall Most Valuable Athlete.
California’s Alex Zanella was the only one to break the five minute mark (4:59.09) in the mile, winning the event for the second straight year.
One day after winning the pentathlon, Slippery Rock’s Anderson won the 60m hurdles, finishing with a time of 8.76.
Slippery Rock got another win on the track with Bailey taking the top prize in the 400m, finishing more than a second faster than anyone else with a time 56.69.
Bailey also won the 200m dash with a PSAC Championship record time of 24.84.
Millersville’s Kiara Allen was second in the 60m in both 2014 and 2015, but won the event this year, finishing with a time of 7.66.
Freshman Gabby Schultz from Edinboro won the shot put with an NCAA provisional mark of 13.75m.
Edinboro also won in the 800m, as Rebekkah Bond finished in first with a time of 2:16.54.
Ashley West took first in the high jump, clearing 1.72m and earning a critical 10 points for The Rock.
Edinboro’s Ida Narbuvoll continued her dominance in distance events. The 2015 PSAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year won the 3000m on Sunday for her second win of the meet.
Caruso from Bloomsburg won the triple jump (11.95m) just one day after winning the long jump.
Shippensburg’s 4x400m relay team of Kiana Tucker, Allison King, Lindsay Sheehan, and Megan Lundy won a close race, beating out Slippery Rock by .12 seconds. The Raiders finished with a time of 3:54.57.

DAY ONE RECAP: SHIPPENSBURG LEADS BOTH SIDES
Edinboro, Pa. - The first day of the 2016 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships was held on Saturday. Last year, Shippensburg won both the men’s and the women’s titles, and after day one, the Raiders are in front on both sides yet again.
For the men, Shippensburg has 62 points, leading IUP, who has 34 points. Lock Haven, Kutztown, and Slippery Rock round out the top five.
In the heptathlon, Slippery Rock’s Noah Bostick is the in the lead after day one. He won the long jump, shot put, and high jump and finished second in the 60m dash. Bostick won the event last year was named the PSAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year in 2015.
In the men’s distance medley relay, Shippensburg’s team of Dominic Stroh, Ori Rinaman, Timmy Usher, and Kieran Sutton took first with a time of 10:04.10, a facility record and NCAA provisional time.
Shippensburg’s LeQuan Chapman is also a repeat winner, as the two-time PSAC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Year won the long jump with a mark of 7.38m, meeting the NCAA provisional standard.
Shippensburg’s Austin McGinley won the 5000m, winning with a time of 15:02.93.
East Stroudsburg’s Travis Toth recorded a provisional throw of 18.47m to win the weight throw.
Lock Haven’s Mitchell Coakley, Jack Felt, Patrick Miller, and Scott Davern won the 4x800m relay, finishing in 7:53.41.
In pole vault, IUP’s Derek Horton, a freshman, took first, clearing 4.91m and earning 10 points for the Crimson Hawks.
On the women’s side, Shippensburg holds a slight lead over Slippery Rock. Edinboro is in third, followed by Kutztown, and then East Stroudsburg and Bloomsburg, who are tied for fifth.
Sabrina Anderson defended her crown in the pentathlon, finishing with 3,490 points. Anderson won the 60, hurdles, shot put, and long jump.
California’s Summer Hill, Gabrielle Irving, Jaclyn Reinbold, and Alex Zanella won gold in the women’s distance medley relay, hitting an NCAA provisional mark with their time of 12:06.03. Zanella was the only returning member of the winning DMR team from California in 2015.
Lock Haven’s Lindsay Hepburn defended her 2015 title and won the weight throw, reaching the NCAA provisional mark with a throw of 16.93m.
Kutztown’s Emma Sullivan hit an NCAA provisional mark, clearing 3.80 and taking first in pole vault.
Edinboro’s Ida Narbuvoll, the 2015 PSAC Cross Country Runner of the Year, won the 5000m, posting a time of 16:48.62. Narbuvoll won by more than 20 seconds.
East Stroudsburg’s 4x800m relay team (Victoria Matthews, Samantha Young, Lauren Toth, and Kaylyn West) set a meet record, finishing in 9:23.48.
Bloomsburg’s Kaylee Caruso won the long jump, hitting 5.99m, an NCAA provisional mark.

PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
Edinboro, Pa. – The 2016 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships will be contested this weekend at Mike S. Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Dome on the campus of Edinboro University.
MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
Shippensburg has won the league crown for five straight seasons and owns eight total titles since the PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championship began being contested in 2002. Lock Haven has won five PSAC titles, while Slippery Rock won its lone crown in 2008.
Julius Rivera from IUP has the fastest time in the 60m dash this season, recording an NCAA provisional time of 6.80. Rivera won the event at the 2015 PSAC Championship while attending California.
In the 200m dash, the top three finishers from 2015 were all seniors. Freshman Jae’Len Means from California owns the top league time this year, running an NCAA provisional time of 21.69. Two Shippensburg Raiders, Andrew Adighibe and Chris Craig, also have provisional times in the event.
The top four finishers from last year’s 400m dash will not return, and Seton Hill’s Dontay Jacobs will come in as the favorite as just a freshman. He has run the only NCAA provisional time in the event this year in the league, running a 48.73 at the YSU Indoor Invite. Slippery Rock’s Jacob VanHouten and James Chandler have the second and third fastest times this year. VanHouten and Chandler finished seventh and eighth last year.
IUP’s Austin Cooper is the top returning finisher in the 800m run, finishing third in 2015. He holds the top time in the league this year at 1:52.78, an NCAA provisional time. California’s Morgan Huegel has the second fastest time, running a provisional mark this past weekend at Kent State.
Lock Haven’s Ben Robinson was second in the mile last year, and comes into 2016 with the second-fastest mile. The fastest mile in the PSAC belong to Shippensburg’s Kieran Sutton, who has an NCAA provisional mark of 4:12.07.
Sutton and Robinson also have the top two times in the 3000m run this season.
Sutton finished in second place at last year’s championship in the 5000m run. The top time in the league this season belongs to sophomore Addison Monroe of Lock Haven.
Freshman Akeim Thomas of East Stroudsburg has a league-best time in the 60m hurdles with an NCAA provisional mark of 8.13. Steven Morgan, last year’s champion, is right behind his teammate Thomas with a time of 8.14.
Both Shippensburg and Slippery Rock have NCAA provisional times in the 4 x 400 relay. Slippery Rock fielded the winning team last year in the event.
Shippensburg won the 4 x 800 relay last year and enters the 2016 championship with the top league time.
In the distance medley, IUP has an NCAA provisional time of 10:03.21, nearly 20 seconds faster than the next team in the PSAC.
In the field events, ESU’s Will Berry has the best high jump in the conference this season, and tied for third best in DII, clearing 2.15m (7’0.5”). Shippensburg’s Jalen Ramsey and Tra-C Davis also have NCAA provisional marks. Ramsey won the event in 2015, while Berry was second and Davis was tied for fourth.
Slippery Rock had the top three finishers in last year’s pole vault, and Jordan Pacheco, who finished second last year, comes into this year with the best PSAC throw, 4.92m (16’1.75”). Derek Horton (IUP) and Brandon Raguz (Kutztown) also have NCAA provisional marks.
Shippensburg’s LeQuan Chapman, a two-time PSAC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, returns to defend his long jump championship. Chapman has the only NCAA provisional mark in the event in the PSAC this year, jumping 7.26m (23’10”).
Chapman is also the defending triple jump champion, but has the second-best triple jump this season, behind last year’s second place finisher, Caleb Smithco of Slippery Rock.
Grant Smith of Shippensburg has a PSAC-best mark in the shot put, leading two other Raiders who also have NCAA provisional marks. Smith’s mark of 17.82m (58’5.75”) in the shot put is sixth best in the country. Smith is also second in the weight throw and has been named the PSAC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week four times this season.
The best mark in the weight throw belong to Travis Toth of East Stroudsburg, with a throw of 19.18m (62’11.25”).
Noah Bostick of Slippery Rock has the most points in the heptathlon this year (4,996) and is the defending PSAC Champion, winning the event as a freshman. Bostick was named the PSAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year in 2015.
Colin Vannicolo of West Chester is the only other heptathlete to have provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships.
WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
Shippensburg claimed its fifth PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championship in six years in 2015. Slippery Rock finished in a close second place, just eight points behind the Raiders. Either Shippensburg or Slippery Rock have won the PSAC Championship every year since 2006.
Two-time PSAC 60m dash champion Danielle Smith of East Stroudsburg has graduated, potentially opening the door for Millersville’s Kiara Allen, who took silver both of those years and enters 2016 with a league-best time in the event.
Slippery Rock’s Jasmine Bailey is the defending 200m dash champion and holds the second best PSAC time with 24.88 seconds. Seton Hill’s Ameriah Walters has the best time in the league, finishing in 24.78 seconds, a PSAC record.
Bailey has the top time in the 400m dash, though, leading last year’s second place finisher from Shippensburg, Megan Lundy.
The defending champion in the 800m is Alex Zanella from California, but she is the 10th seed heading into championship weekend. Her Vulcan teammate, Summer Hill, currently holds the top PSAC time.
Zanella, the 2015 PSAC Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, is also the defending champion in the mile, and she is the top seed in the that event, as she is the only PSAC runner to break five minutes and post an NCAA provisional time this season.
In the 800m run, defending PSAC champion Janine Powis of Slippery Rock is ranked second behind last year's runner-up Allison Gibbens of Edinboro. Gibbens has the top seed time of 2:14.42, while Powis owns a time of 2:14.94.
Slippery Rock’s Jenny Picot posted an NCAA provisional time in last year’s 3000m run, but came in the second. This year, she has improved upon that provisional mark and is the top seed in this event. Shippensburg’s Abby Shafer and Edinboro’s Ida Narbuvoll, who was the PSAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Year in the fall, have also posted provisional times.
Narbuvoll has the best league time in the 5000m with a time of 17:15.75. Behind Narbuvoll is Slippery Rock’s Leah Anne Wirfel, teammate Kasey Jones, last year’s 5000m runner-up, and Shippensburg’s Casey Norton. All four have NCAA provisional times.
Sabrina Anderson of Slippery Rock has the top time in the 60m hurdles. Anderson won the pentathlon last year is the top-seeded pentathlete in 2016. Her 3,789 points at the Youngstown State National Invite currently ranks seventh in the country.
Slippery Rock is the top seed in the 4 x 400 relay, while East Stroudsburg had the best time in the 4 x 800 relay.
Edinboro is on top in the distance medley and is the only PSAC team to post an NCAA provisional mark in the event.
In the high jump, five NCAA provisional marks have been recorded this year and three of those belong to Slippery Rock. Ashley West, Paige Kassab, and Sabrina Anderson have all accomplished the feat for The Rock. West’s 1.72m (5’7.75”) clearance ranks sixth in the country. Bloomsburg’s Joselyn Estrada-Pascual and West Chester’s Holly Szita have each cleared 1.65m (5’5”). West, Kassab, and Estrada-Pascual were second, third, and fourth, respectively, in the event last year.
There are five NCAA provisional marks in pole vault as well. Defending champion Kaitlyn Clark, Slippery Rock, has the best mark with 3.91m (12’10”), ranking eighth in DII. Emma Sullivan of Kutztown, Charisie Bowen of Mansfield, Anecia Alexaki of Kutztown, and Erin Harman of Millersville also have reached the NCAA standard.
Bloomsburg’s Kaylee Caruso was third in the long jump last season, but has the best jump of this season at 5.99m (19’8”), which is the fifth-best jump in the nation. Last year’s runner-up, Shippensburg’s Sarah Hunt, is right behind Caruso with a mark of 5.85m (19’2.5”).
In the triple jump, Caruso and Hunt are currently ranked second and third, respectively, behind Kaliah Holmes of California. Hunt is the defending triple jump champion, while Caruso finished fourth last year.
Tamara Overjera of Shippensburg owns the top seed in the shot put; she finished fourth last year. Lexi Stevenson of Seton Hill and Macey Tanseco of Kutztown have also reached the NCAA provisional standard.
In the weight throw, the only two people with an NCAA provisional mark both come from Lock Haven. Lindsay Hepburn and Adrienne Puglia have each reached the standard. Hepburn is the 2015 PSAC Champion.
